On the hunt for amazing suppliers of great products!

How difficult can it be to find amazing suppliers of great products that students would love? that are eco friendly? And unique? Well, it is so much more difficult than we anticipated!

We looked all over the place. Online wholesalers - even of eco friendly products weren't great because most of their items come from far away lands. Sweet suppliers, many use a ton of plastic and wouldn't change this for our requirements. Body care products?Not even going there, a bit of a mine field.

We finally settled on supporting small and where possible, local to us, businesses. And we found some amazing products!

We will share all about them this week!

So what goes into creating our gift boxes.

When we sat down to figure out what to put into our uni student gift boxes, we had a list of criteria each item needed to meet:

- we wanted items to be as eco friendly as possible. Products mass produced in other countries and imported to the UK weren't what we were looking for.

- we wanted our products to be unique, something you don't come across everyday.

- we definitely wanted to support small UK businesses. We looked around our local area and found so many small businesses who were creating items we knew would fit into our boxes. Those closest to us were our first port of call, but we still search for the best for our gift boxes.

After deciding our must haves, we went and asked plenty of people (even ran a few trial boxes to make sure) what they would love to send their favourite uni student, we developed a list of great items and then went hunting for them.

About us!

Somebody asked last week why we sell gift boxes specifically for university students. It's a great question, because they could be used for people in all walks of life.

We chose uni students because when we started out, had its nasty tendrils locking them up in halls and other accommodation without the option of seeing friends or family and many of them were totally isolated. We thought a little gift box, just for them, could go a long way to help with letting them know that people were thinking of them and, in many cases, offer them some home comforts they may have been missing as a special treat.

That's where we started, and the ideas have kept coming.

We had such a fantastic response to our give away, and so many lovely people offered ideas of what they would love to see included in future gift boxes, so this week we are off hunting for some gorgeous new products. We will keep some of our favourite and add some newbies.
