Been busy of late so have been MIA for a while but I'm back for the foreseeable. 😊

Had the lucky pleasure last week of meeting the legendary Garth Marenghi, who is now the proud owner of a bookmark. Nothing finer to use to keep your place in his fantastic new book Terrortome, which I'm reading at the moment. πŸ‘

Anyone had the pleasure of meeting one of their heroes?!

We all have our own ideas and theories about unexplained incidents and mysteries like UFO's, the Bermuda Triangle and other strange phenomena. I too have been recently pondering about a bizarre disappearance of a monolith, which weirdly seemed to happen on the same day as Jupiter being closer to Earth than usual.

Swipe across to see the before and after pictures - the monolith seems to have just vanished with no evidence left of it ever existing!

If you have any theories, then let me know or if you have Mulder and Scully's contact details that would be great.

As October is just around the corner, and I've just recently rewatched Event Horizon, I was thinking about my favourite science-fiction horror movies. As a sub-genre, there's some absolute classics out there in the movie world. πŸ‘½πŸ©ΈπŸš€

Do you love the masterpiece that is John Carpenter's The Thing, like feeling your stomach churn at Jeff Goldblum's depiction in The Fly, enjoy the jump scares in the Alien franchise or prefer the cult classic They Live!

Let me know your favourite sci-fi horror movie!

With summer rapidly coming to an end, when visiting the beach leave your phone in your bag or pocket and spend some time with a Sharpie. Not only can you create some art using pebbles, you can make prehistoric business cards! Moon-Watcher did this on the beach and left them in prominent places for others to discover.

With the cost of living crisis looming, Moon-Watcher needs to earn his keep so while on holiday he was invited to do a shift at The Anchor Inn. He managed to help himself to a pint of cider while the boss wasn't looking!

He also spoke to a window cleaner to see if he wanted an apprentice! Let us know if there's any jobs you'd like to see Moon-Watcher trying out, and we'll see what we can do!

Nah then kids - even monkeys can burn in a heatwave, so Moon-Watcher always prefers to use a good quality sunscreen when sunworshipping. He recently caught some rays on Seatown beach in Dorset and entertained the locals - more pictures to follow!

And a t-shirt also works well to protect yourself from sunburn! Why not buy one from our website www.monkeysandmoniths.co.uk

No animals were harmed during the making of this post!

What do you see when you walk through a city centre and see advertising billboards?? Well Moon-Watcher doesn't think like most people - he sees a weird opportunity....with the aid of a tape measure, black fabric and help from his good friend Nick, the upholsterer/ stunt bike rider, he now has potential Monoliths all over GB. This trip to Sheffield was the quietest Friday morning on record, but we still made an impact! If you have this type of billboard in your town or city, send me the location and you never know? Moon-Watcher may turn up one day...

This week would have been the great Stanley Kubrick's birthday. Born on 26th July 1928, he made some of the most iconic movies in history including, of course, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, Dr Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange.

For such a legendary director, he actually only ever made 13 movies. And although nominated many times, he never won an Oscar for directing but won once for Best Special Visual Effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I've been meaning to watch Barry Lyndon as it's one of his movies that I've yet to watch so fingers crossed soon.

Do you have a favourite Kubrick movie or are you not a fan?

Moon-Watcher travelled to Sheffield yesterday for a bit of filming. While he was there, he couldn't resist posing for a covert photo outside Sheffield's best bookshop

After a quick change, popped in for a quick purchase. What do you buy from a bookshop? Obviously a piece of sci-fi art for Mrs Moon-Watcher!

Sorry
I didn't introduce myself!

Can you identify any spacesuits from the picture?

How do you watch movies? 🎬

There's nothing finer than watching a film on the big screen at the cinema, but when it comes to home viewing are you a fan of online streaming, prefer an old-fashioned DVD or are you completely retro and use VHS, Betamax or even Videodisc?!

I do use streaming services but still prefer DVD's and have quite a collection. All ready for the apocalypse when the internet ceases to work or when Big Brother tells us what we're allowed to watch! πŸ˜†

Just a quick and long overdue shoutout today to the fantastic Bear Face Branding Co.] πŸ‘

When we needed a couple of good quality hoodies with a quick turnaround, they absolutely stepped up. Countless other print companies were no help, but not only did Bear Face Branding Co.] say yes, they surpassed our expectations with excellent customer service, swift printing, a high quality product and even made Moonwatcher an extra large t-shirt! Thanks again!

Go check out their page! 😊

Bookmarks - yes or no? πŸ“š

If you're a reader, do you use bookmarks? Personally, with the exception of now using a Monkeys and Monoliths' bookmark, I used to use whatever scrap of paper was handy - bit of an envelope or maybe an old ticket.

Although I've never been a page corner folder - surely an arrestable offence! What about you? Page folder, scrap of whatever's nearby or a proper bookmark? Or none of the above!
