Fiona Herbst Jewellery is art in the form of jewellery—vibrant, expressive, and unapologetically unique. Made primarily from polymer clay.

Every piece is designed and handmade in Donegal, inspired by the wild Atlantic landscape with its rich textures, bold form and ever-changing colours.

Summer Work
The original ‘In the Reeds’ earrings were quiet - inspired by the stillness of the hedgerow, the way weeds bend in the breeze but never break.
This new version breaks a few rules. They’re Bigger. More abstract. A little jazzed up, just like the weeds caught mid-sway in a summer gust.
Same landscape, same story - just louder. Made by hand, worn with a bit of wild. C= Summer radiates from your ears.

In our courtyard today women are being written back into history!

Today, Wednesday July 22nd, the Ulster History Circle honoured Doherty with a blue plaque in her home city, recognising a contribution they say should not be overlooked.

Sarah Doherty
Born into a working class family in Derry’s Bogside in the summer of 1884, Doherty was around 14 when she first went out to work.
Then, Derry was a globally-renowned centre for shirt-making, with the industry developing from the late 19th Century.
By the 1920s, there were more than 40 shirt factories employing thousands of workers, with thousands more servicing the industry from their homes.
At its peak, more than 18,000 people worked in Derry’s shirt-making industry, the vast majority of them were women.

Sarah was born in 1884, the third daughter in a family of 13 children. She went to work in the shirt factory at the age of 14.

Her commitment to justice for workers, especially women, never faltered, in spite of the personal setbacks she suffered in a life devoted to trade unionism. As well as her role in the TGWU, she was secretary of the Tailor and Tailoresses Society and a member of the Shirt Making Wages Council. It was said that her activism led to her being denounced from the church altar. It didn’t stop her attending Mass.

This is my new éadrom style handled Travel Mug. The idea of adding a handle to my travel mugs was inspired by my younger sister. She is a primary school teacher and she needed a covered mug for school yard duty. But she also needed a handle. So she asked me if I could come up with something.
She got a lot of interest in her mug from the other teachers.
The first few are available now in Number 19 craft and design shop in the craft village in Derry.
