Choosing books with children does not need to feel complicated.

Sometimes the best support is simply giving them time to browse, notice what catches their eye and feel confident enough to choose for themselves.

On The Book Bus, we see how much easier reading feels when children can explore at their own pace, with someone nearby to encourage rather than direct.

A familiar character, a funny cover or a story they keep hold of for the rest of the day can all be enough to get reading started.
That small moment of choice matters.

A lovely introduction to one of the most famous storytellers of all time, and a reminder that every great story starts somewhere.

There's something special about seeing a playground turn into a bookshop for the day.

Children comparing their choices.
Friends recommending their favourite stories.
Teachers helping readers find something they'll love.

It's more than selling books.

It's about giving children the freedom to choose their next adventure.

The shelves are stocked, the books are ready, and it's time to head off to meet the next group of readers.

What you don't always see are the early starts, the packing, the planning, and the team behind every visit. But moments like this remind us why it's all worth it.

Planes in the sky, books on the ground ✈️📚

This weekend we were at the Midland Air Festival, meeting families, sharing stories, and helping youngreaders discover their next favourite book.

While the crowds were looking up at the incredible displays overhead, we were busy helping children explore hundreds of adventures waiting on the shelves.

Because wherever families gather, we believe books should be there too.

A fantastic weekend of flying, reading, and meeting so many wonderful families.
