⭐️ As promised, “the shirt”! ⭐️

🧵This gorgeous fabric was from my favourite 𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙗𝙤𝙬 𝙁𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙨 and so perfect for a surf shirt for someone who quite likes fishing & the sea 🤣 🐠

👕 A great pattern from Wardrobe By Me and a lovely change for a few hours to sew something totally different to seagulls!

✂️ I’m most proud of the the pattern matching…it gives me a lot more joy than it should 🤣 💕

🫶 and a happy new owner of a bespoke shirt too 💕

♻️ 𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙗𝙤𝙬 𝙁𝙖𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙨 is all deadstock, so saving fabric from landfill - but also so many fantastic choices & designs, with weekly new drops of fabric.

A busy week..so much so that the pictures are at the market this week as I was busy sewing them up at 10pm last night!!

🪺 Last week was such a busy week, so we’re likely to see the 200th seagull sold today, which blows my mind 🤯

♻️ lots of newbies, and even some more green! All made from upcycled & rescued fabrics, saving them from landfill!

✂️ Lots of lessons too, a mix of workshops and private lessons! I love how popular they are, and the confidence that students now have!

👔 and I squeezed in time to make a men’s shirt too! Keep an eye out on my next post for pics of that 🐙

A bit of a different week this week with less making, and a bit more organising after a few busy weeks!

🏴‍☠️ When someone special asks for their own pirate seagull, you get to have some fun! It had to have a fishy reference too…and I think you’ll agree Chippy looks amazing 🤩 🐟

👱‍♀️ It’s all about scrunchies this week, with a restock ready foe the weekend! Lots of blues and pinks 💕

✂️ I’ve also started working on something new, a sea inspired shirt! 👕…oh and a good tidy of the sewing room where the floor is visible again 🤣

🧵 and absolutely chuffed that the sewing lessons released this week are doing so well! The bomber jacket, PJ Worksgop, and beginner workshop in August are all fully booked! 🥳

July was a busy month of making, but also sewing lessons! I love how popular they are becoming, whether that’s the workshops or private lessons too 😍

💫 Beginner Workshops saw students gain confidence with their machines, and make beautiful tote bags or cushions
🩳 Advanced beginner saw students make their own gorgeous new pjs, and gain confidence in reading patterns

And then the private lessons:
🪟 new Roman blinds made for 3 windows in a series of lessons with one student
🧵 helping a student get to know her new machine and master the automatic threader!
♻️ Make do mend with one student, adding gorgeous straps to her dress from some curtains we also took up
♻️ and another taking up a dress, and some tshirts for her husband
👗 mastering bias binding and patterns with a gorgeous merchant & mills dress
🛋️ and helping a young lady learn to use her machine, and make a gorgeous cushion too

It’s been a busy making week after a bumper weekend Deal Town Market !

Lots of lessons too, with details in a post tomorrow, and the new class calendar available until October!

♻️ I love how different each of the seagulls is, with some fantastic new seagulls from fabric I got at the fabric swap a few weeks ago

🪺 The seagulls have flown far and wide this month landing in Holland, Cornwall, Germany and more!

♻️ All made from upcycled and rescued fabrics, so easy unique and with a no squark and poo guarantee 🤣

⭐️ Another busy week, with lots of lessons, but also time for some making inspired by fabrics from the fabric swap event on Sunday 💕

♻️ For those that know me, it’s quite a significant week - a lot of teal inspiration this week, and ironically the closest match was GREEN thread for the new bags…a once off that is unlikely to be repeated 🤣

🪺 I have a new favourite this week - the teal geometric seagull! I’ve impressed myself with the pattern matching, and hope you’ll appreciate it too - I have a feeling they’ll be flying the nest this weekend

I’m excited to be featured in the Deal Art Streets exhibition, a collaboration of SEAs, Deal Arts Club and Deal society who are working to improve empty shop fronts on the high street!

Of course, a couple of seagulls have nested too! Such a fab initiative and so many brilliantly talented local artists have their pieces on display.

🙏 A massive thank you to everyone who came to the yesterday!

💰Your donations helped us raise a phenomenal £149 for Deal Area Foodbank - such an important local charity!

🧵And I’ll be making a trip to .ekm on Wednesday when they open - we had just over 35kg of fabric which will be donated, over 100 pieces!! amazing 100+ pieces

A huge thank you as well to The Astor Community Theatre for letting us host the event!

I was blown away by how many people turned up, and will definitely plan another event shortly!

In the meantime, please do support Deal Area Foodbank and make a visit to the .ekm to donate, or stock up your stash - you can fill a basket for just £5. Both are such excellent charities, and reliant on our support 🙏
