β οΈπ£ HIGH WATER TEMPERATURES β CARP WELFARE COMES FIRST πβοΈ
During periods of very high water temperatures, carp are already under increased stress. Warm water holds less oxygen, and the added pressure of being caught, handled and photographed can make recovery more difficult.
If you catch a carp, please put fish welfare before everything else.
β
Have your unhooking mat, landing net, weigh sling and camera ready before lifting the fish.
β
Wet all equipment and your hands to protect the carpβs natural slime coat.
β
Keep the carp low, secure and supported at all times.
β
Keep handling and photography to an absolute minimum.
β
If the fish looks tired, stressed or slow to recover, skip the photos and return it immediately.
β
Support the carp carefully in the water and allow it to regain strength before release.
β Never leave a carp unattended.
β Never hold a fish over hard ground.
β Never rush its recovery or force it to swim away.
A personal best, a trophy photo or social media post is never more important than the welfare of the fish.
Respect the carp. Reduce handling. Prioritise recovery. Let every fish swim away strong. ππ
