A.S Harding Knives A professional knife-maker from England who creates the finest quality bush-craft tools from scratch. Simply message me through this page for inquiries.

My bush-craft story started way back in the early 1970's when, at only 10 years old, I found myself camping alone for the night. During the night I had mixed emotions - a little fear matched equally with excitement, I mainly remember, however, the great urge to do it again. From that time I started collecting anything related to living in the wild. My first knife was a small two-blade pocket knife

and I remember thinking that if I had that knife in my pocket I could become anything and go anywhere I wanted. My feelings about spending time in the woods have not changed in the least over the decades.

2016 is my sixth year as a professional full time knife-maker and the thought of others having the same experience that I had but instead with one of my own knives playing a part is a huge motivation for me.

5000 years for the Oak to mature in an English bog, then three days in the workshop. Somewhere in there is a bushcraft knife, I hope.

After five weeks away with a serious problem with my eyes and after a number of procedures including eye injections my sight has been restored. Much of that time I couldn’t read a car number plate at ten feet. Back in the workshop on Monday morning.

This 5mm thick Workhorse knife with 5000 year old Bog Oak is good to go.

On the outbound walk into the rising sun it can be frustrating, you can’t see anything but everything can see you. The return journey however is another story. With the sun behind you the tables are turned completely around.
I walked out of the woods to see this Fox dozing off in the warm morning sun, only now, I had the advantage.

I caught the Red Deer stag in perfect light. Wearing full camouflage meant that he wasn’t sure what he was looking at causing him to pause just long enough for me to get the shots.

This knife turned out beautifully in every way. A 5mm thick carbon steel blade with a flat grind and secondary bevel, easy to keep razor sharp. The handle is 5000 year old Bog Oak with brass fittings.

So hand made it’s just one at a time.

The sheath is also hand made and fitted to the knife.

A bit of Air brush work on this sheath. Coming soon.
