Solar Buddies was an idea that came from a issue both me and Laura had whilst our kids were in Nursery. We did not realise that most schools have a "No touch" policy when it comes to assisting children applying their sunscreen, which was crazy. Our children were in the age ranges of 4 -10 and trying to get our youngest to put on their sunscreen at break times or lunch was a nightmare and they got
in a right old state, messy hands, messy uniforms, we had just had enough. Both Laura and I knew once a day creams don't live up to what they say and had found too many occasions where they hadn't worked like they said so the Solar Buddies idea was a must have for us. The next steps were the hardest, how do you go from being mum to business women???? it took a long time and a lot of juggling and a lot on knew skills that needed to be learnt, but it was well worth it as now we have what we always wanted for our kids, a way for them to be a little more independent when we was not around to help them out and the peace of mind knowing they were protected. Skin Cancer is a worry issue and one that is mostly preventable and if by inventing this we help change the awareness in youngster to allow them to have long and healthy life then we have done a great job.
