The Coventry War Memorial Ramp Renovation campaign (WMRR) is one of the UK's longest-running skatepark campaigns and really needs your help to secure a bigger, better skatepark at the existing War Memorial site. The team have already overcome all sorts of obstacles to get this far and are now closer to making this a reality than ever before, having secured the full support of the Sports and Parks Teams in Coventry City Council alongside a good proportion of the funding needed. But in order to access the remaining funds for a skatepark designed by and for the community, they need to apply for planning permission which has significant costs that cannot be covered by existing grants, which is where this new Crowdfunder campaign comes in.
For 20 years, several generations of Coventry skaters, other skatepark users, and their supporters have been working towards a skatepark that Cov truly deserves. Now, they're on the brink of making this dream a reality. Your contribution, whether it's a donation, a pledge, or simply sharing this Crowdfunder on your social media, will make a significant difference to this crucial campaign for UK skateboarding.
Coventry is one of the Midlands' major cities, but it doesn't have a skatepark that's either big enough for the size of the scene or isn't outdated and damaged. The current War Memorial skatepark is the most accessible for people across the city. But it's now in such a serious state of disrepair, those who try to skate it risk serious injury. People just don't want to ride it anymore. Coventry was the UK's City of Culture in 2021, and a new skatepark could be part of the city's wider creative and cultural revival.
It really is well past Coventry's turn to get a modern, creative and well-used skatepark!
