COMPETITION TIME!

Last week, we were visited by the lovely illustrator of the Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler. Very kindly, he signed lots of his books and each one has a charming sketch in it.

We couldn’t possibly keep something so spectacular from you, so we are running a competition for you to win one of these Axel Scheffler signed books!

We only recently found out that Axel hides a Gruffalo in lots of his other non-Gruffalo books (you probably knew this already) - so here’s how to enter:

Spot the Gruffalo in the list of books below and tell us what he’s doing in each! The books are:

1. The Scarecrows’ wedding.
2. Tabby McTat.
3. The Smeds and the Smoos.

You can look in the library or in the bookshop or on your own bookshelves.

3 correct entries will get a free signed book - and we will offer a signed book for purchase to 20 runners up.

To take part, pop into the bookshop and collect an entry form!

What do PG Wodehouse, the pirates in ‘Peter Pan’, and Sherlock Holmes all have in common? (I promise this is not the start of a bad joke!) The answer? Cricket!🏏

When the pen had been stowed away after a day’s writing, some of our most well-known and well-loved authors took to the cricket fields in their down time!

Curious about this literary curve-ball? Ollie Randall will be free to explain all at St Bartholomew’s Summer Festival when he talks about his new book, ‘Writers in Whites’, on the 28th July! RSVP to The Corsham Bookshop if you’d like to come along!

We’re delighted to be involved in the The Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge 2026! Working in tandem with the wonderful Corsham Library, you can now come into the bookshop to receive your stickers for the progress you make, as well as start the challenge itself!

We will be making a post with all the information regarding SRC soon! Keep your eyes peeled!

Submissions are invited for the Bath Children's Novel Award 2026.
From humour to horror, they’re on the lookout for standout YA, children’s novels, chapter books, early readers and picture book texts.
