Clifton, Bristol Resin Bound Driveway
VubaMac Resin Bound Surfacing by Thermascreed Ltd
Project Overview
Thermascreed Ltd was commissioned to transform a large, sloping driveway at a residential property in Clifton, Bristol, using the VubaMac resin bound system.
The project involved creating a durable, attractive and low-maintenance driveway that complemented the property's combination of traditional stonework and contemporary architecture. The finished surface provides a seamless appearance while retaining excellent drainage characteristics and creating a practical area suitable for regular vehicle and pedestrian use.
The Challenge
The property presented several challenges, including the significant change in levels across the driveway, multiple existing structures and retaining walls, curved landscaped borders and detailed areas around the garage and building entrances.
The driveway also needed to integrate neatly with the existing stone walls, brickwork, drainage channels, raised planting areas and access points.
Careful preparation and attention to levels were therefore essential to achieve a consistent finished surface across the entire area.
Preparation & Installation
Thermascreed Ltd carried out extensive preparation before installing the resin bound surfacing.
The driveway was prepared with a reinforced base incorporating VubaMac reinforcement, providing a stable substrate for the resin bound system.
Particular attention was given to:
- Preparing and consolidating the existing driveway structure
- Installing the reinforcement system across the required areas
- Maintaining accurate levels and falls
- Detailing around existing retaining walls and raised beds
- Working around drainage channels and garage entrances
- Creating clean transitions between different sections of the driveway
- Carefully forming the resin bound surface around curved edges and architectural features
Once the preparation was complete, the VubaMac resin bound aggregate system was installed to create the finished surface.
The Finish
The chosen aggregate provides a warm, natural appearance, with a blend of golden, brown and darker stone tones that works particularly well
