DairyLight

DairyLight DairyLight is a groundbreaking spectrum LED lighting system, proven to help boost dairy herd profits.

Our LED spectrum lighting system helps to regulate the circadian rhythm (body clock) in mammals by exposing them to a continuous and specific spectrum and intensity of light for 16-18 hours per day. This mimicks the daylight benefits of being outdoors on a bright mid-summer day which optimises feed uptake, milk production and fertility, and improves general wellbeing. This is followed by a period

of 6-8 hours darkness where the body naturally rests, recovers and heals. Scientifically tested and proven, DairyLight typically increases milk yields by 8-11%, often paying for itself in 4-7 months.

Don’t wait until the clock’s change to think about lighting.

As daylight hours shorten, this can quickly impact housed cows and their routines, behaviour and milk production.

A well-planned lighting system helps maintain milk yield consistency, supporting natural rhythms, calm behaviour and staff visibility.

With automated cow-specific lighting, cows benefit from bright daytime conditions and restful red light at night, helping create a more comfortable environment before the darker months arrive.

The impact of heat stress on cattle can be seen by decreased intakes, drops in milk production and reduced overall performance.

Better ventilation in housing can help:
- Remove trapped heat and stale air
- Support improved immunity
- Improve fertility
- Maintain the right internal body temperature

Better airflow can help reduce heat build-up in cow housing, keeping cows more comfortable and supporting intakes, lying times and milk production.

It does not take a heatwave for cows to the feel the effects of heat.

Warm, humid air can put pressure on cow comfort before the signs of heat stress become obvious.

At a dairy farm in Cheshire, a misting system was added to the manual ventilation set-up, helping lower shed temperatures by up to 10◦C and keeping cows cooler and more comfortable.

Is your ventilation system ready for the next warm spell?

After one of the warmest Mays on record, heat stress risk is already front of mind for many dairy farmers 🌡️

At Tack Farms Ltd, upgraded ventilation systems are helping keep sheds cooler, air fresher and cows more comfortable.

Ellie Lovell at Tack Farms Ltd, says: “Cows do not need extreme temperatures to feel the effects of heat. High humidity and heat held in the shed can all contribute to heat stress.

“Since installing the fans, we’ve noticed how much better the air quality is and the sheds have felt much cooler. We’ve also seen far fewer signs of heat stress in cattle housed in the ventilated sheds.”

32°C in the shed… and the cows stayed cool, calm and comfortable🌡️🐄

We loved receiving this feedback from Henry and Tack Farms Ltd, after installing more fans this spring.

He says: “New fans in the shed have completely transformed it.

“Cows are happy and not bunching like last year - no drop in milk and no changes in food intake in this hot weather.”

That is what good ventilation is all about - better air movement, improved cow comfort and helping herds cope temperatures increase.

A big thank you to our customer for sharing the update.

Great to hear the fans are already making such a difference. 💨

We recently installed a cross-ventilation system for Mark Thomasson at Lower Aston Hall Farm, to complement existing sock ventilation system, which can struggle to provide enough air exchange during the warmer summer months🌡️☀️

Each fan has its own breaker mounted at man height, allowing individual pens to be switched off depending on the age of the calves housed and the season.

The system is fully THI regulated, with the option to manually increase or decrease fan speed, or make use of the built-in programming within the control panel.

Running at 50Hz and full speed, the Abbi fan offers one of the quietest systems currently on the market. With a direct-drive AC motor using just 540W at full speed, Abbi fans are also among the leaders in energy efficiency.

💨 Ventilation installation spotlight 💨

Henry Lewis from Tack Farm, Herefordshire wanted to lower the risk of heat stress for his 900 high-yielding dairy cows, so we were commissioned to install the Abbi-Aerotech B.V. ventilation system in half of his sheds 🐄

With a noticeable difference to cow comfort in the sheds with the new fans, Henry has decided to extend the system to the rest of his sheds.

A well-designed cooling system can reduce temperatures by up to 5°C, delivering real benefits for cow comfort, welfare and performance.

💡 Light installation spotlight💡

Steve Heron at Eastfield Farm in Cumbria, is seeing the benefits of this cow-specific lighting system on his dairy unit.

With our lighting system, cows experience a more natural light cycle, with blue-enriched white light during the day and red light at night. This helps support cows’ natural body clocks, promoting calmness and ensuring optimal rest.

The system is designed to work in harmony with the cows' needs, allowing staff to work efficiently while keeping the cows settled.
