I can't believe I am half way through my summer break already! We've enjoyed a beautiful 2 week trip to Gower, where we spent every day on the beach, and last week we celebrated my daughters 13th birthday.

I thought I would do a little meet the maker, as I've not done one for ages! So here are 10 facts that you may or may not know about me!

1. My first job was as a chambermaid at Englands oldest hotel, The Old Bell, Malmesbury 🏨

2. Although I now live in Wiltshire, I was born and raised in Englands oldest recorded town, Colchester 🏘

3. My favourite food is anything picky like Mezze & Tapas 🍴

4. I don't drink alcohol but I absolutely love an ice cold full fat coke 🥤

5. I love the freedom and headspace running gives me. Forever thankful to live near some lush running routes 🏃‍♀️

6. I am mum to two 2 girls and I am one of 2 girls. The girl genes are strong ♀️

7. I am never happier than when I am by the sea 🌊

8. I taught myself to crochet about 11 years ago, and i have been hooked ever since 🧶

9. I absolutely love to read and always have. Give me a sea view and a good book and I am a happy Gem 📚

10. My favourite thing about running Little Gem is all the amazing people I have met, especially since I have been teaching. Sharing my craft with others is just the best feeling 🥰

Yesterday I taught my last class until September, a wonderful Daisy Granny Square Workshop. You can see their results in the photos 👇 I also got a chance to catch up with my 1:1 from last week and see the results of her finished cardigan (see last photo), didnt she absolutely smash it 🙌🏻🙌🏻

And on the subject of praise, I'm going to give myself a bit of a shout out as I wrap up before my Summer Shut Down.

So far this year i have taught 30 classes/workshops! I never in my wildest dreams could have hoped for Little Gem to become what it is today. And I am so bloody proud of it. I love teaching every class, meeting each and every one of you! So much work goes in behind the scenes to make these classes what they are and I put so much of myself into each class. I really hope that shows.

More than anything I am so proud of the Little Gem community thay I am building. I see friendships being forged weekly and its so lovely. And bumping into little groups of you meeting socially having met for the first time in my classes is bloody lush 🩷🩷🩷

So I'm signing off now to have a little reset, but rest assured I will have my thinking cap on and will be back with a bang in September ready for the best crochet months of the year! I already cant wait for pumpkins!! On that note, you can still book your place on the pumpkin workshops taking place mid September. All details in the photos 🧡

Today I had a well deserved day off after a busy week with 3 x 1:1's

I visited RHS Badminton Flower Show with my mum and my sister. Wow! What a day! And I couldnt resist hiding a few flowers around the show. Some flower brooches and some flower bookmarks. I hope they made some people smile today 🌼

My last class before my summer shut down is next Tuesday at The Sun Cafe, Christian Malford.

Come along and Learn how to crochet Daisy Granny Squares 🌼 I still have 1 space available.

This workshop is for anyone who can already accomplish a traditional granny square. It is not suitable for complete beginners.

For those that have asked for a Saturday Daisy Granny class, that one is a work in progress and I will let you know just as soon as I have a date confirmed (I haven't forgotten you 😜)

Another morning, another 1:1 class at The Sun Cafe, Christian Malford 🌞

This time my student wanted to learn how to
a.) Follow a crochet pattern
and
b.) Make a baby cardigan 🩷

And its fair to say she smashed it. I found a beautiful pattern for her to follow that is 'no sew' as the garment is all made in one piece 🙌🏻

I set a target at the start of the class to get to a certain point on the pattern (Row 9). I knew this would give her focus and a goal. We reached the target and beyond. And we will catch up next week after she has completed the body of her cardigan to add some sleeves!!

This is an incredible achievment for my student who had her first class with me at the end of May. 7 weeks later she is making a cardigan. What a great example of what is possible!

1:1 classes are completely bespoke. You tell me what you want to learn and I will design a classfor you 🩷

This morning I have taught a 1:1 session at The Sun Cafe, Christian Malford 🌞

1:1 sessions are a real treat. You have my undivided attention for 2 hours and we can cover anything you like in that time! This morning we made Daisy Granny Squares. 1:1 sessions are £55.

I have two classes left now before my summer shutdown plus one more 1:1 session tomorrow.

A glorious morning at The Sun Cafe, Christian Malford in the sunshine 🌞🌞🌞

This morning was my first ever Crochet Catch Up. No lesson was taught, it was just an informal morning for us to come together, share our current projects and crochet together sat in the sunshine🥰

This morning was exactly what I had hoped I would achieve when I started teaching. A growing crochet community of like minded ladies, making friends and crafting together. All of them using skills that I have taught them to make all sorts of projects; making items that will be passed down through families 🩷🩷🩷

A big thank you to Jean and the team at the sun for being so welcoming and hosting us 🌞🌞🌞And a special thank you to all the ladies that came along. Watching you all creating made my heart sing 🥰

I had one space left in my diary before my summer shut down, so there will only be the one class for now. But there will be a weekend option for September/October (drop me a message if you would like me to add you to that list)

Tomorrow is my Little Gem Summer Catch Up over at The Sun Cafe, Christian Malford

There is a slight chance of rain in the morning so we may need to relocate to inside rather than outside as I had first hoped.

This event is free to attend and is for anyone who has been to one of my classes. I wont be teaching but if you want to bring along your current project i would love to see it 🥰 And we can sit and do some crochet together. Or just have a lovely catch up enjoying all the treats that are on offer at The Sun 🌞
