Today we said our final goodbye to Stephen Elliott. Husband, Father, Grandfather. To me, my father in law felt more like my natural father who I lost many years ago. He was always there, with a knowledgeable word, a great help, and quiet dignity.
I had the honour of helping to carry Dad into the chapel, which was overflowing, to one of his favourite pieces; Nimod by HM band of the Royal Marines. It was a beautiful service and tribute to his life.
We will miss you Dad, and we love you, always!
I'll leave you with the Poem that Helen, his oldest daughter, read:
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
