Dates and First Lines were very low on stock when I came in today. Obviously you have been buying them for the readers in your family. I have restocked and thought you might like to try to guess this one in the photo. Great book- snap it up before someone else does.
Dead Mile by Jo Furniss is a page turning thriller and it’s on the front shelf.For those of you who enjoy a fast paced crime novel this is definitely for you.
There are some excellent value hardbacks in the shop- great as gifts. All of them as new- once read.

Dog Eared is fully stocked again with lots of bargains on offer.
The front shelf has lots to offer all tastes. Jenni Murray is there with a British History of Women. She is always good value and such a champion of us females. Our local author Kate Mosse is eternally popular and Sepulchre is on the front shelf.
Don’t forget to rummage through the blue box for bargains and interesting books.
For bookmarks look no further- all handmade and a lovely gift.
Buying a book is always a treat but buying a pre loved book is also recycling.

New stock in today . A roll call of some of our best authors- Ian McEwan, Sebastian Faulks, Hilary Mantell- a great line up.
We also have a range of Alexander Mcall Smith which could be a lovely surprise for the reader in your family.
Our star read is The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. She is a historical writer with superb research credentials and all her books are fascinating and focus on a historical character in such an interesting way.

Leave No Trace by Jo Callaghan is a very interesting concept for a crime novel,as the DCI has an unusual colleague. A couple of books to highlight this week. Our star read is The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout. This author writes wonderfully about small town America and the focus of The Burgess Boys is on 2 brothers- it is terrific. Right next to it is a non fiction book written by James Rebanks which tells the story of the eider duck women of Norway and how they help and support the eiders in spring and then collect the down for duvets which sell for astonishing amounts of money- but after reading all about them you understand why!
We also have in store 3 hardback books all newly published which would make great presents for the early Xmas shopper. They are Rosarita, The Map of Bones by Chichester’s Kate Moss and You are Here. Snap them up!!

Can’t believe it’s half term and the last week of November, lovely sunny days but cooler outside- so perfect weather for curling up with a book
At Dog Eared Books we have a great selection. On the front shelf there is The Miniaturist and The Whalebone Theatre as well as Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro classic. On the crime shelves we have an Anne Cleeves and an Iain Banks.
We have one copy of Girl Woman Other - a Booker winner as was Chesil Beach.

I have just put out some new bookmarks- all handmade - and would make great stocking fillers or just a gift for the book lovers in your family.
On the front shelf are some great books. Our star read is Clear by Cary’s Davies a wonderful and surprising story of the Highland clearances. Alongside it are best sellers by Alan Hollinghurst and a brand new copy of Here We Are by David Nicholls- an absolute bargain.
As half term is almost upon us don’t forget that we have some high quality childrens books available for our youngest readers.

I would just revisit our core purpose this week and remind everyone that we recycle great quality books. All donations are gratefully received.
Our best quality reads often find their way to the Blind Date category. I have uploaded 2 pictures of BD books, both of which I love. One was written about 20 years ago and the other only about 2 years ago. Both are very worth while reading.
Our other popular category is First Lines. Read the first line on the white wrapping paper and see if it makes you want to read on.
Many of our loyal readers pick up a BD or a FL as a pressie for a reader. Great stocking fillers.

A snapshot of some of the books in stock this week.
A crime trilogy for the crime buffs out there- had really good reviews. Our star read is Clear by Cary’s Davies, simply one of the best books I have read this year, it focuses on a remote Scottish Island to which John is sent to ‘clear’ the one remaining inhabitant. So well written and a surprising story.
Or how about A Long Way Home - the story of an Indian boy who fell asleep on a train and ended up a long way from home- it was made into a film and is an excellent read.
So much good literature out there- why buy new when you can read a pre loved book and help save books from landfill.

A new star read this week, a modern day classic, Half of a Yellow Sun, about the civil war and birth of modern day Nigeria- simply wonderful.
Also on the front shelf is The First Crusade written by the historian Peter Frankopan- if you have not read any of his books I urge you to do so.
The Fast 800 and The Healthy Gut Book are in the blue box and both have been very popular reads on diet and lifestyle.
All this and new stock of Blind Dates and First Lines. Pick up your autumn reads upstairs in Bosham Walk and settle down for a good read.
