**WORKSHOP WEDNESDAY | Victorian Linen Press**
A good one from the workshop this week — and a reminder of just how much work can sit between the ‘before’ and ‘after’.
We found this Victorian linen press as part of a dark-painted pair. We knew (hoped!) that underneath all that old finish was a lovely original piece that was well worth putting the time into.
The old paint was stripped back, the piece repaired where needed and then thoroughly sanded and prepared. From there it was undercoated before receiving three top coats in a Farrow & Ball colour chosen by the customer.
The handles were changed too, giving it a much cleaner look while keeping all the character and proportions of the original Victorian piece.
Dark and tired looking→ stripped, repaired & prepared → finished for its new home.
Quite a transformation — and definitely not just a coat of paint.
