Today is World Curlew Day, a chance to celebrate one of Britain’s most distinctive birds, the Eurasian curlew.

With its long curved beak and haunting call, the curlew has been part of our countryside for generations. Sadly, it is now in decline, which makes days like this all the more important.

We created our metal Curlew Fence Topper as a simple tribute to this incredible bird. A striking silhouette that stands proud on a fence, gate post or wall.

We are also proud to support the work of Wader Quest, helping to raise awareness and protect wading birds like the curlew.

The tools used to bring my flowers to life are not exotic. I could make some press tooling to speed things up but I feel that would remove the individual character of each petal. My methods ensure that no two are exactly the same. To me this is what elevates them to a true peice of art.
So, I'll pour some more coffee and carry on swinging my hammer.

Wallasey Village Festive Night Market brings a bit of magic to your Friday evening. We’ll be set up inside Wallasey Village United Reformed Church on Friday 21 November, 16:00–19:00. You can warm up with mulled wine and mince pies and entry is free.

Copper Sails

The copper sails caught no wind, only whispers of the sea that no longer existed.
They were cut from something once proud, a shape meant to move but left to rest.
I look at them and see a truth I’d rather not name.
I too once chased horizons that refused to stay still. Now my edges have dulled, but I still catch the light when it passes.
In the hush between hammer strikes, I can almost hear the pulse of what was.
Maybe the wind hasn’t forgotten me.
Maybe it’s waiting for me to move first.

Thanks to Studio Blaylock. Who set me the challenge to create something from the scrap copper. I hope you approve. I could instantly see the sail shapes within the copper but it took a bit of inner searching to figure out how to deal with it.
