Here are just a couple of recent transformations of pre-loved furniture available to view and buy at Dolly Tint, the Art and Crafts Boutique in Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street.

The cocktail/china cabinet has been given a great makeover with a couple of coats of Rustoleum Chalk Paint in Anthracite Grey and finished with clear wax. Inside we have used a pretty grey and apricot small patterned wallpaper, which tones beautifully with the paint colour.

I bought the little oval mirror from one of my Maket Hall colleagues in Books and Bread for Kenya: Charity Chester-Le-Street UK where you can find an ever changing treasure trove of items. Originally dark wood, I was attracted to the size of this mirror thinking it would be perfect for a bathroom.
I have wanted to try some decoupage using paper napkins for a while and so as soon as I saw the little fish print napkins I knew I had the perfect piece for them. So round and round they now swim.

If any of you ladies out there are thinking about adding a little old style glamour to a bedroom or even turning a spare room into a dressing room... (heavenly!!) then you may want to check out this unique set of furniture pieces on display at Dolly Tint Arts and Crafts boutique in the Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street. You'll also find lovely decorative boxes and jewellery hangers to display your treasures.

The metal framed screen has been reupholstered with a lovely monochrome floral patterned linen fabric and grouped together with a hand painted ottoman, with padded fabric top (which doubles as a seat), and a great little basket weave chair to match. Floral and fabulous! So off you go, shop till you drop, gather your girlfriends together, add a couple of bottles of Prosecco, some glasses and hit the catwalk!!

The clouds may have gathered this afternoon but the sun never sets when this beautiful little cabinet is on display.
Originally an unappealing dark brown colour this lovely little piece has been transformed inside and out in the Dolly Tint furniture painting workshop here in the Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street.

Those of you who check this page now and again may remember me thanking an anonymous donor of a little triangular corner table. Well, here at Dolly Tint, Arts and Crafts boutique in Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street, we spent a little time giving this useful piece of furniture a makeover
It's now a fantastic versatile piece of furniture which would fit perfectly into the corner of any room. Add to that the useful little drawer with it's renewed 'key' shaped handle and you've got a perfect little hall corner table.
Freshened up with a couple of coats of Rustoleum Chalk paint in 'Hessian' and sealed with a layer of clear wax the drawer has also been lined with a printed vinyl showing different style clock faces.

One woman's trash is another woman's treasure and in this case it's a little summer stunner!!

I was passing by a bungalow on a local housing estate when I noticed a carved door on a lovely little cabinet, sitting on the top of a heap of stuff being discarded by people moving in.

To cut a long story short the owner was delighted for me to take it away and with the influence of a recent hot bank holiday weekend I decided to say 'Hello Summer!' and paint this the most vibrant sunshine yellow I could find. (It's actually Autentico furniture paint in the colour 'Brazilian Bird'. To make the inside as vibrant as the outside I have lined the base with a gorgeous funky neon paisley patterned paper which also has hints of Brazilian Bird yellow. Summerlicious!!

It's always very satisfying to paint something which ends up looking really pretty but is also very useful....which describes this lovely linen basket now on sale at Dolly Tint in Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street.

This piece came as part of a mixed bag of items from Boldon Auction Room and was originally Jade green with a pinkish tinge around the edges!! Well, even the keeper of dirty laundry deserves to look stunning so I decided to paint it with Dulux Satinwood paint in a gorgeous Lavender colour. Being Satinwood the surface is washable and very tough. To make it extra special and just that little bit different I've attached a gorgeous heart shaped handle to the lid. Here at Dolly Tint, Arts and Crafts boutique in Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who supports the independent retailers within the building to continue the developments underway.

The local people of Chester-le-Street are a really important part of our customer base and we are keen for you to continue to visit and shop regularly within the ever increasing retail options within the building.

With regard to Dolly Tint, I would like to say a great big thank you to the very thoughtful anonymous donor of this lovely little corner table, which was left outside my Furniture Painting Workshop recently. Yes, it may look a little past its best right now but It's destined for a well deserved makeover in the non too distant future at which point i will reveal it's refreshed beauty to all, so do keep checking my page for an update.

Now that Spring has finally arrived it seems everyone is starting to look at sprucing up their home and so Dolly Tint has said goodbye this week to a handful of lovely little pieces including the gorgeous little ladies writing desk.
Every time we deliver a piece to a customer it's like saying goodbye to a friend I've been on a journey with...I've found them, cleaned them up, got to know their good and bad points, fixed them and given them a makeover to make their beauty shine through....then they leave to start another stage of their life with someone else who has also seen their beauty.
I hope all our customers of the pieces shown have many years enjoyment from their purchases.

Market Hall Shops Chester-le-Street, is a great place to find unusual one off pieces of furniture that really set your home apart from the rest. In addition to this Dolly Tint often has lovely people calling in to see if we would like a piece which they no longer want but feel is far too good to dump.

This lovely fire surround is a good example. No longer suitable due to a move to a smaller modern house this beauty arrived at the furniture painting workshop in pristine condition but unfashionably brown, shiny and very wooden.

After two coats of Hessian Rustoleum Chalk Paint and a coat of Rustoleum matt furniture lacquer it could be mistaken for the coolest pale beige stone with beautiful plaster carving.
