Right, we're not ones to make a habit of this, but the temperature today was absolutely unacceptable and Simon has gone full entrepreneur.

Following the overwhelming success of absolutely nobody asking for this, we were thrilled to announce that today was — Pet Aqua's Chest Freezer Spa Experience one off Heatwave Special.

The smelly green tripe was removed. The freezer wiped down (mostly). And Simon was standing by with a timer with a very professional expression on his face.

Today's sessions sold out faster than we expected, Dave from the 2 o'clock slot bought back-to-back sessions for his mother-in-law, whom he described as "needing the time to reflect." We asked no further questions.

We also had our first customer pay £25 for an extended stay — which, as luck would have it, gave her just enough time to get round Aldi and back. She came back to a very cold husband, and apparently a much more peaceful afternoon. She's already asked for another session.

If we've learned anything today, it's that our customers will try absolutely anything in a heatwave and are extremely selfless — and that Simon is wasted in the pet trade.
