Running an independent business right now is incredibly tough. The hospitality and retail industries are facing some of the most difficult times in memory, and like so many others, we are working harder than ever just to keep doing what we love.
Because things are tight for everyone, we have strict, fair policies in place. Today, a visitor became upset when we explained that an Experience Voucher (which was bought 18 months ago, and never expires!) cannot be exchanged for retail chocolate products, as they operate on completely separate systems.
Sadly, before leaving, this customer threatened to 'blacken our name' on social media and claimed we do not support our community.
We didn't manage to get her details to discuss this further, but we wanted to reassure all of you of who we are. Our community means everything to usโit is the very heartbeat of why we are here, and we pour our hearts into supporting local initiatives whenever we can. But supporting the community also means keeping our business stable so we can continue to serve you and protect our staff's livelihoods.
We will always welcome feedback, but we cannot change our policies under the threat of public defamation, nor can we accept harassment directed at our hardworking team.
To our wider community, thank you for understanding, for standing by us, and for supporting independent businesses during these challenging times. Your kindness is what keeps us going. ๐ค
Unfortunately this has slightly overshadowed some great news we have to share soon, which will be a great support for our business moving forward. We promise to share as soon as we can.
