Patent stamp “App. Pat. No.90/35” confirms 1935 origin.
Fully working 3‑spring mechanism
Original patina & conical shade

Created by George Carwardine, made by Herbert Terry & Sons, Redditch. Launched in 1935, this was the very first production Anglepoise – its ingenious constant‑tension spring system revolutionised adjustable lighting. Produced in limited numbers before WWII, these early models remain among the most sought‑after British industrial designs.
