Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 9 June 2026 held their weekly sale of 844 Prime and Cast sheep.

495 NSL sold to average 442.82 (445.06 SQQ)

Top today was £220 for heavy Texels from Gelston Castle and 485.7ppk for Beltex from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland.

107 hoggs averaged 264.88ppk

Top today was £178 for Texel hoggs from Messrs Craig, Rankinston and 382.6ppk for Texels from Messrs McCulloch, Glentoo.

210 Cast sheep sold to a top of £238 for tups from Messrs Gilroy, East Kirkcarswell with ewes to £222 for Texels from Messrs Grierson, Sandfield. Scotch Mules topped at £180 from Messrs Dale-Sunley, Airds of Balcary and Blackface to £142 from Messrs Sheddan, Balgerran.

Ewe hoggs topped at £280 for Mules from Dalgonar Farming with Hoggs with lambs at foot to £200 a life for Cheviot Mules from Messrs Finlayson, Old Cluden.

Wallets Marts held their second spring sale of breeding cattle on Monday 8 June 2026 which incorporated the sale of 23 stock cows and calves from Messrs Clement, Borgue House

A Limousin bull from Aiden Edgar, Dalbeattie topped the sale at £6000 with heifers with calves at foot to £4100 from Messrs McMurray, Lagg Farm.

Cows with calves at foot from Messrs Clement, Borgue House topped at £3850 for a Luing cow with heifer calf at foot followed by £3800 for an Angus cow with bullock calf.
