The BMW badge is missing from my car overnight Friday, 17th May between Canonbie and Langholm. If anyone comes across it please return to Londis in Langholm or Canonbie Post Office for a reward.

Hello everyone and it’s been a busy few months at the Canonbie shop so my apologies for the lack of postings on our page.
Most of you will know from the press and TV that there has been quite an upheaval in the Post Office nationally and this has led to much uncertainty about the actual future of the business generally. Covid prevented postmasters and mistresses holding their regular meetings over the past 2-3 years and so the general chitchat between colleagues meant that crucial information just didn’t circulate.
However, most of you will be concerned about your local Post Office and although slow, some positive progress is being made with the Canonbie Community Enterprise company with a view to transferring the post Office and shop to them as a going concern.
Personally, I am keen to retire and have some sort of interesting post-retirement life and I would hope and expect to
be able to largely achieve this by mid-Summer. The ongoing business requires all round support from the village and surrounding area and I’m sure that this will be forthcoming.
In association with the community group, I would expect to be able to report on progress in the coming weeks and I would urge you all to attend any meetings that the group call to keep you all informed.

Many apologies for those in the immediate vicinity of the Post Office who may have been disturbed by the intermittent sounding of the alarm over the weekend.
There is a fault on the newly-installed security system and an engineer has been called to deal with the matter.
Hope the problem did not disturb anyone’s sleep too much.
