Now is the main growing season for most houseplants, cacti & succulents. This runs from about March to October. Plants are living things just like us and need light water & food to thrive. Feeding them often gets overlooked but our plant food recommends feeding every time you water your plant (as long as this isn’t more than once a week). You will really notice a difference with their growth once you start feeding! Pop in & grab a bottle! We also have fresh compost, recycled plastic pots & seed & cuttings specialist compost too. Plus! Now is seed sowing time so pick up some seeds & get your garden growing ❤️

You may have noticed that we’ve started to sell cut flowers at the weekends. We had been asked so many times about this since all local florists have closed on Mill Road. We are trialling selling them but if they don’t sell out each time we will have to stop. Fresh flowers are expensive & we are sourcing ours from Holland and the UK. Please support us in this venture (which BTW is much better than buying flowers from supermarkets where they are flown in from far flung places & wrapped in plastic) or we will have to stop selling them. Do message us to tell us your thoughts on this ❤️

Missing you already! True & good people are very precious. They don’t come around often but when they do you keep them close & nurture their friendship.
These 2 have found a special home in St Ives & a little community of good people to surround themselves with.
I’ve loved being here, having a rest from work & spending time with Riadh & Truff. Thank you for having me & thank you Anna for manning the ship in my absence & too! I feel very blessed to have such brilliant staff I get to call friends ❤️

Happy Mothering Sunday to all those hardworking and caring Mothers. I do miss my Mum who died in March 2022. She wasn’t the easiest of mothers to love & she was from a vastly different era. One where women were housewives, although she worked full time throughout my childhood, and one when divorce was frowned upon. She held some views which were offensive to me so there was a lot we simply couldn’t talk about without arguing. But! Towards the end of her life she softened & actually hinted that she was proud of me, calling me every day to just check in with me. Enjoy your special day all you Mums out there & as Harry Styles says “Respect your Mother”! They are the backbone to every family ❤️

Happy International Women’s Day! A shout out to women on this day of celebration! We work with so many brilliant & talented women. From Anna who helps me run the shop & does so much more besides to Riadh, who ran our social media, to Louise our talented Saturday girl. Nearly all our suppliers are women! .uk we love them all & feel privileged to be able to stock them & support their creative businesses ❤️

Orchids or Phalaenopsis are not something we normally stock. There’s a good reason for this. If you’ve read any of the posts that puts out about the wastage surrounding these plants you’ll know why! People tend to throw them away after flowering which is a waste as they are beautiful plants that are so easy to look after. Ask us how to do this & please make whoever receives one aware too!

This Valentine’s Day buy something meaningful & sustainable. Beautiful East End Press garlands & cards are perfect & pretty. We will have fresh tulips outside as well leading up to the day. We have mugs, heart shaped plants like Ceropegia, candles, soaps, Yahae warm & toasty socks so pop in & take a look ❤️

This amazing person & dear friend has been doing our social media for quite a few years now and she will be greatly missed by us all! Due to me cutting back our outgoings for 2026, which I will surely regret!, Riadh will no longer be working for us. Her commitment,love, support & creative input into Small and Green has been immense & so appreciated! We love you Riadh & we wish you well in all your adventures in the future, of which I hope I’ll be a small part of, on my many visits to Cornwall this year! Xx
