Alan Class titles are now available in store. For those who don't know and can't navigate Wikipedia, Alan Class was a British publisher who reprinted and anthologised horror, suspense and science fiction comic strips from the U.S. so that we lucky lot in Blighty could read them. They ran a number of titles from 1959 until 1989. They're actually pretty good, featuring a bunch of stories usually around 3 pages long with a fairly obvious twist in the tale. They read like story boards for forgotten B-movies and TV shows, and they're priced at £5 each. Classy.

I'll be busy over the next few days bagging, boarding and pricing new stock in time for Saturday, so if you're around this weekend, expect new titles in our graphic novels, comics, and mags section. Loads more to come, including bottom feeding Alan Class pulp alongside your more respectable Marvel titles. (But don't knock the Class until you've tried it! They'll be getting their own post!)

Rare Buxton Freemasonry books in stock.

'The Jubilee of Buxton Lodge No. 1688, 1877-1927: A Short History of the Lodge during that Period', by A.C. Ainsworth. The rarer of the two, this is an eighty-six page book printed on thick paper in its original binding. Cream cloth over board with the Lodge's crest printed on the cover. Contents include a copy of the lodge warrant, the history of the lodge divided over five decades, tables of donations, past members and officers, and six black and white photographic plates pasted down with tissue dividers. There's a hint of page wave up to page 9, though nothing excessive. Other than that, the book is in very nice condition with solid binding, clean content and protected in a removable plastic sleeve. £250. Serious offers considered.

'History of Freemasonry in Buxton and Longnor', Sydney Taylor (Buxton Advertiser, 1906). Leather bound in burgundy with gilt lettering front and spine. Possibly rebound with blue floral endpapers. Deckled page edges. Five black and white photographic plates with tissue dividers. Binding sound. Sixty-eight thick cut pages. Light tanning to page edges and some marks to boards. Overall, another very nice copy. £150.

We now sell films on DVD. But not your run of the mill films you'd expect to find in the back of your local bookshop. We're talking Kubrick, Buñuel and Hitchcock, Rififi and Army of Shadows, Bullet in the Head and The Wild Bunch, Kiss Me Deadly and Blow Out. More to come. All curated to offer you the best films you've maybe never seen. Feel free to drop by and ask me about any of these, and I'll bore you stupid about why Blow Out is De Palma's masterwork or why John Woo should never have left Hong Kong for Hollywood.

Monstroid Magazine issue no.1 - This one only lasted for 3 issues, running from Autumn 1992 until Spring 93. A shame really as it's a well put together glossy with an excellent triple page spread devoted to obscure horror & sci-fi movies ('Rock n Roll Wrestling Women vs. The Aztec Ape', anyone?). Also featured are interviews with Shaun Hutson and Peter Jackson, an appreciation of Curtis Harrington, and a blow by blow account of why Alien 3 was doomed to failure from the start. Available in store for £5. DM or comment to claim.
