We are super excited to welcome Scientific Rambles in store for our second free event in July.

Scientific Rambles is a collective of artist-antiquarians, exploring and interpreting the ancient landscape of the Peak District and the borderlands of the three shires. They are:

Becca Smith - Visual artist and dowser

Martyn Stonehouse - Composer and sound artist

Ailsa Holland - Poet and historian

Iain Davidson - Visual artist and archaeologist

Together, they will bring you their discoveries and revelations for a very special evening, where you will find:

Modular synth to use/experiment with to make a collective sound piece;

Poetry and antiquarian texts you can read/merge with the sound-scape;

Drawing as a response to the landscape/sound/poetry;

Plus! The Rambles Stone, which will guard the entrance to the shop, and upon which you can draw/write your favourite sites onto its surface.

If you like modular synth, stones, drawing, burial mounds, poetry, sacred springs, mapping, folklore and the landscape of the Peaks, then join us at Hagstone Records from 6pm until 7.30pm on Friday 24th July.

The first of our free events for July: the wonderful vocal-guitar duo Heidi & Ben, better known as Happy Go Lucky. Expect summery vibes, beautiful vocals, and some of your favourite tunes given a soulful twist. Free entry with an option to leave donations, all of which will go directly to the performers. Happy Go Lucky will be playing live in store from 5pm on Monday 13th July. The venue: Hagstone Records, 20 Hardwick Street, Buxton SK17 6DH.

We've now removed yesterday's post as it was put here solely to show we had a valid reason for closing for the day and not an attention grab. However, the messages of love we received were overwhelming. Thank you all for your kindness. Love and peace from the Hagstone and Book Folk family.

It's sunshiny and lovely and we're open for Bank Holiday Monday until 4pm. Come and check out our racks and bins and pop a new CD into your car stereo and just drive, baby! Or take a record home and spin it while you host a BBQ. It's really up to you!

We have some new merch in store! Bags, gift sets, socks, posters, cups, badges and T-shirts. Plus cool Steven Rhodes bags and tees up for grabs. As always, our CDs and records are being refreshed weekly. Open this week Friday & Saturday 10-5, and Sunday 10-4.
