Previously a buyer for Primark, one of the biggest retailers in the UK & Europe, Claire has recently launched not one - but two businesses Style.Edit.Fix and The Swap Shop. Both businesses operate with sustainability and responsible consumption in mind. From helping curate your dream outfits using parts of your existing wardobe - to offering a clothes swap platform. Claire has honed in on the current consumer demand for mindful shopping.

We checked in with her to find out how seismic shifts in the fashion industry and evolving shopping habits influenced her career change.

Summer Wardrobe

Is yours still packaged away in storage?

Forgotten how to dress in the heat, while remaining stylish and comfortable?

If you’re in need of a little inspiration, and feel like you have no summer clothes, I find it useful to look back at some photos of the previous year to see what favourite items you were pairing.

Here are my top go to items

☀️ Wide Leg Linen Trousers
Worn with a simple ribbed vest and trusty Birkenstock’s this can look effortlessly chic.

☀️ A White Dress
In your favourite shape and fabric, great for showing off your sun kissed glow. If white doesn’t work for your skin tone, opt for a darker neutral tone.

☀️Floral Midi Dress
Easy to throw on for either a quick trip to the shop or dress up with jewellery for dinner.

☀️ Comfortable Sandals
No need to compromise on style here, just find a pair that you want to live in all day. The red ones I have on here are and add add interest to the simplest of outfits

Hello third trimester 🥥

This bump seems to have doubled in size overnight 🙀

This means floaty dresses and oversized dungarees for the foreseeable future.

I’m still really pleased to say, I’ve not had to alter my wardrobe too much at all. Everything in this outfit belonged/and fitted me pre preggo, and I stand by the fact that you really don’t need to go out and buy a new wardrobe to accommodate the bump. If you need a bit of help making some smarter choices, give me a 👋🏻

Today I’m off to see a client IRL in London, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

As much as I love seeing your lovely faces on my screen, I always think you get more out of an in person session.

My client today wants to get out of her gym wear, and feel a bit more special. We will be working through her current wardrobe, and then building her a uniform wardrobe, making it super easy to mix and match for any occasion. This is a bespoke service I’ve tailored especially for her, as she needed as mix of wardrobe edit and shop.

Is it possible to fall in love with a kimono?

I have been raving about .undressed to all my preggo pals and clients. The most beautiful kimonos from repurposed sari fabric 😍

Perfect for those days when you’re not quite ready to get dressed, but still want to feel nice. Essential for those first few weeks as a new mama.

I’m always sure to include loungewear that makes you feel special for my new mamas.

This style is made from cotton, so it’s super lightweight, and the print is so dreamy 💛

We talk a lot about shopping sustainably, and becoming more conscious consumers.

There are some truly wonderful innovative brands, using different slow production methods and innovative materials. These do however come at a higher price point. Many of us see these as worthy investment pieces, but unfortunately they do fall outside of some budgets.

These trousers I am wearing I have had for near on 8 years, and wear them regularly as they fit so well, and are even serving me well into my pregnancy. I got them at a well known high street shop and don’t think they cost more than £20.

I think the point I am trying to make is, absolutely try to support smaller brands where possible. However if you are going to buy clothing on the high street, ask yourself how much wear you will get out of it, in the same way you would if buying something more expensive. Always try to aim for 30 wears.

Every piece of clothing you buy should be an investment piece, irrespective of cost.

PLEATS

If oversized and boxy aren’t your thing, concertina pleats in fabric allow for much room and expansion, while growing with you.

Top tip - make sure an item fits correctly on your shoulders. One body part that won’t expand during pregnancy.

The pleats in this dress work perfectly, but you can also look out for pleated tops, and skirts. Just ensure the waistband is lose enough to be pulled up above your bump.

for gorgeous dresses with clever feeding solutions

has a carefully curated selection of vintage pieces perfect for pregnancy

I thought it was impossible to find non frumpy bras until discovering this brand!

Finally coming soon from a pal of mine is gonna be a goody!

If you haven’t got your spring wardrobe organised yet, this week could be the perfect time to start.

Before buying anything new, I always recommend a good look at what you already have, and wore last year.

Try on some pieces that you haven’t worn in a while to determine whether they fit properly or still have life left.

Put away anything that you have finished with until next winter eg, heavy knitwear and coats, either in vacuum bags or a suitcase, and make some space so you can see things properly.

I’ve had this jumpsuit for YEARS, and it comes out every year, and I was delighted to see it’s still got about a month of bump growth left.

There is no need to have a wardrobe overhaul because you are pregnant. Most of my clients already own so many clothes that will see them through their maternity wardrobe and beyond.

However if you do find yourself looking for something new, here are some key things to think about.

SEASON
Simply, what will the weather be like during the latter stages of your pregnancy, and how can each piece be adapted for changes in weather.

POSTPARTUM
Will you feel comfortable in your clothes post birth, and if nursing, will they be suitable.

DO YOU LOVE THEM
You want to be able to feel amazing showing off your bump. There is not need to compromise on style. Search beyond the tradition maternity wear section, and you’re much more likely to find pieces you will wear for years to come.
