On International Women’s Day, we honour the voices, knowledge and strength of women across generations.
Lidja Binjidbira meaning “listen to women” in the Larrakia language, is a powerful painting by Larrakia artist Rebekah Nyalkba. Rooted in her connection to the Larrakia Nation and her upbringing in the Northern Territory, the work reflects the deep cultural importance of listening to the stories, teachings, and wisdom carried by Aboriginal women.
Rebekah Nyalkba celebrates women as storytellers, nurturers and leaders, reminding us that their voices have always shaped culture, community and the future.
Today and every day, we honour the power of women’s voices and the responsibility to truly listen with deep respect.
