The latest patchwork bikini made here at Mitra The Label and we are OBSESSED!!

All patchwork bikinis are reversible and made from remnant fabric, helping us to re-purpose our scraps which normally would end up in landfill.

Did you know it’s estimated 92 million tons of fabric waste is sent to landfill every year? So by using our remnant fabric for patchwork bikinis, scrunchies and hair bands, we are helping reduce our impact to the environmental crisis from textile waste.

At Mitra The Label, we are currently developing even more ways to use our fabric remnants which include using our scrap elastic, threads and cutoffs from the overlocker - watch this space!! 👀

It’s not been a stress free journey due to my machine breaking last week but I am slowly making progress.

These three colours together 😍🤩 What colours would you pick for your reversible bikini? ❤️

At Mitra The Label, being a one woman business based in Bristol, UK, it is important to us that I show and tell the transparency with our production, our fabric and our brand’s ethics. I also want to share industry knowledge, tips and information about sustainable fashion, how garment workers are being treated and what is currently happening in the fashion industry.

The current crisis is highlighting that there are huge issues within the fashion industry that need changing ASAP. One issue within the fashion industry is the fabric our clothing is made out of and the consumption we buy clothes.

Up to 12 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into our oceans every year, that’s roughly a truckload a minute. This overload of plastic in our oceans damages natural habitats and threatens marine life. We are finding plastic in their stomachs, as well as 1 in 3 marine mammal species being found entangled in litter including turtles, dolphins and sharks. With all this plastic ending up in every stage of our food chain. It’s even ending up on our plates. 

At Mitra The Label we are helping fight this problem, as well as contributing to the solution. I am committed to sustainable, ethical and planet-friendly practices. I make all of our swimsuits handmade to order, to help minimise waste and only make/stock swimsuits that are needed.

All our remnant fabric is then made in hair scrunchies, hair bands, face bands and patchwork bikinis.

I knew starting my own brand came with a lot of responsibilities, a major one being its environmental impact.

We are seeing more and more catastrophic events across the globe. We must protect people and the planet now and forever. We need to recognise our responsibilities in our global climate crisis.

We have a choice.
We have a chance to change.

From the beginning, I wanted to create something that was both eco-conscious and sustainable.

All Mitra The Label’s pieces are made to order, our packaging is both reusable and biodegradable and for our fabric we use ECONYL® regenerated nylon.
