Good morning folks!

A great for the Absolute fans this week! And all other comic fans to be honest. I think Wednesday's are just always pretty great. Gosh I love the middle of the week.

I digress. 3 Absolute titles out this week and we managed to get more of Absolute Catwoman and Absolute Green Arrow #1 in for you all. We've also got the big three DC Next Level pieces this week with Lobo, Deathstroke, and Batwoman.

From Marvel, we've got a couple of exciting Spider-Man pieces in too! The 2nd issue of the Brand New Day mini-series is in AND the first issue of a new mini-series titled Spider-Man: Long Way Home.

So much wonderful stuff! Come on in and have a gander.

I'll see you later for this week's Spotlight post,

Much love,
Tom and the Dave's Comics team

🪄✨️ It’s a magical Manga Monday folks! But witch (😏eh?) manga is it? Well, it got a beautiful anime adaptation recently, and I’ve *finally* got volume 1 back in-store!

🧙‍♀️ Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama is a beautiful foray into a world and life of magic and witches. Coco is a girl who lives with her mother, helping her make clothes, but she is obsessed with magic. However, everyone is told that witch-hood is something you’re born with, or is it? Circumstances change drastically when Coco gets a spellbook and discovers she can do magic, and well, anyone can! Quickly, she is whisked away to learn how to be a full fledged witch and hopefully fix the mess she made with the suspicious spellbook that is linked to “forbidden magic”.

📕📖 Read for:

·         A beautiful, magical world in its own iconic style with exquisite detail

·         A refreshing take on magic and power being achievable by all, but potentially dangerous (I really feel like that’s going somewhere)

·         Cute characters aplenty; I love Coco I love Tetia I love Richeh!

·         Intriguing mystery waiting in the background of a warm character piece

·         Whatever Qifrey has going on (💁‍♂️🏳️‍🌈?)

😬Sorry this one’s so late, I know the anime was weeks ago and it’s beautiful. Read this book tho it’s suuuuuuper good. Enchanting on you all a wonderful week! With love, from Kat and the Dave’s Comics Team!

Finally bringing you a post for today! I know I've said it so many times already, but it's such an incredible week for comics.

I'm sorry I don't have loads of time for a massively in depth caption today, we're a busy bunch over here.

Come have a gander at the shelves, it's pretty special.

All the very best,
Tom and the Dave's Comics team

I haven't seen a this big in a long time! There is quite literally something for everyone this week.

You have no idea how excited I am about the finale of Gargoyle of Gotham. This has been a long time coming and I don't even know if I'm ready for it.

Also worth noting is that Avengers Armageddon comes with an exclusive Magic the Gathering Card in preparation for the new set that's coming out soon! I'll show it off in the Spotlight post later today.

It's been lovely to see you all this morning,

Much love,
Tom and the Dave's Comics team

We've just had a visit from the delightful Gemma Correll who's over from California for a whistle-stop tour promoting her new book, the autobiographic novel Anxietyland. It's wonderfully honest and brave account of her lifetime dance with anxiety, all told with a lightness of touch that finds a hopeful, pragmatic tone.

And we couldn't let her go without adding to our wall of fame.

A big thank you to and we wish her bon voyage and look forward to future releases.

🏳️‍🌈Manga Monday: It’s Pride month, you know what that means!
Kat: Huh? What? You want me to recommend a gay manga? I don’t get it?

Manga Monday: 😏

Boys Run The Riot, by Keito Gaku is a story about a trans guy, Ryo, who is really struggling with his environment. To alleviate dysphoria and societal pressure, he finds his solace in fashion and art, but he has one friend and no one who understands him. That is, until he meets Jin, an older boy who discovers they have similar tastes, and has a dream to create a fashion brand. He invites Ryo to join him on the endeavour, and quickly Ryo discovers hope and an outlet for his creativity and gender expression.

📕📖Read for:

· A passionate read of interpersonal relationships and friendship

· Art that blends between simple and intricate where needed in a satisfying reading experience

· Transgender representation that is respectful and overt from the beginning, with the word itself plastered on page 15, instead of “subtext”

· One of the coolest dudes on the planet in Jin Sato 😎

I love it, and sometimes you gotta do something for the boys! Let's dress up niceys and be tramsgenber. 🏳️‍⚧️ With love, from Kat and the Dave’s comics team!

Another quick graphic novel round-up in time for weekend. The Book Of Murmurs (Fantagraphics) is a truly beautiful journey thru imagination following a little girl as she's spirited away to dizzying, sometimes scary world in search of a book of spells. Candice Purwin has woven a spellbinding visual feast which may find itself on the years best lists.

The British Are Coming (Ten Speed Graphic) is the first volume of an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Rick Atkinson's trilogy about the American revolution.

More war in Escape vol 1 (Image) an enthralling story of a downed bomber pilot trying to survive in the heart of the enemy's country. Top-notch art and gripping storytelling here.

Batman vol 1 (DC) has been the other hot Batman series people are talking about, which features the old-fashioned trick of telling one story per chapter whilst slowly building to a bigger story. Traditional Batman at it's best.

And finally, The Visions (Marvel) reprinting Tom King's excellent Eisner Award-winning exploration of what it means to be human thru a family of androids in the middle of suburban America.

Happy weekend folks

Here's your weekly post that I always do every week and I never ever miss a week (don't check last week)

Some awesome stuff to kick off this June:

The Adventure Time Pride one-shot looks really lovely. It's got a bunch of different artists throughout the piece, each of which being their own whimsical take on the iconic Adventure Time style.

Also, I'm personally super excited about The Deadman. I've not heard anything of this character until this comic was announced, but with the creative team on it I absolutely can't refuse it. I'm so so glad to see that Martín Morazzo is getting the recognition he deserves.

That's all from this week's spotlight! Hope you're all giddy and excited now.

Can't wait to see you all soon,
Tom and the Dave's Comics team

It's a beautiful sunny today if you ignore the rain and the lack of sun!

Some great comics out this week. Lots of new beginnings so a great time to head to the shelves and see if any new titles take your fancy.

Big week for X-Men with Uncanny X-Men, X-Men 97, X-Men of Apocalypse, AND a new What If X-Men story which asks the question "What If Scott Summers stayed with Madelyne Pryor?"

Also a couple of comics to celebrate the beginning of Pride Month: Justice League Dream Girls which is a four part mini-series that will come out weekly across the month. We also have an Adventure Time Pride one-shot which follows Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's secret love song!

As I say, it's a great week for browsing the shelves so worth coming down with an umbrella 😁

Much love,
Tom and the Dave's Comics team

🙋‍♀️ Good morning, Manga Monday enjoyers! I have a special one for you all today, brand new in English for the first time!
🦇 Billy Bat, by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki tells the story of Kevin Yamagata, a Japanese-American comic artist who finds out he may have accidentally plagiarised his bestselling comic character Billy Bat, from his time as an interpreter in the second world war. Distraught, he heads to Japan to find the original creator and ask his permission or forgiveness for using the design. However, he is quickly thrown into a web of murder, mystery and conspiracy that just keeps going deeper. What is this Bat, really? Why are the US military looking for it?

📕📖Read for:

· A gripping mystery thriller, set during the cold war and particularly in showa era Japan, an era I find incredibly interesting

· Beautifully detailed art with painstaking attention to detail

· Another classic from the creator of 20th century boys and Asadora

· An interesting viewpoint of a Japanese-American interacting with the two different cultures he is connected to

I was honestly unsure about this one, but it blew me away and I guess I now have *another* title to follow obsessively. Kinda like I’m following a conspiracy…🙀
Billy Bat volume 1 releases tomorrow, the 2nd of June 2026

😈 Happy hunting! With love, from Kat and the Dave’s Comics team.
