Well I hope you have all enjoyed Easter. Today was a really good day, a trip out to Armathwaite for a beautiful sunny Spring walk and then finished off with a Gin at the Fox and Pheasant which looks fabulous after its refurbishment .
Meetings over the next couple of weeks with hopefully some good news , it takes time to get things moving but time is something that I’m really appreciating right now. Positive Vibes 🥰🥰🥰

Now for those that know me, I am a real handbag kinda girl, with a room dedicated into a handbag wardrobe in my home. ☺️👌

One of the things I miss from the bricks and mortar shop is the delight of opening the door in a morning and being greeted with the wonderful fragrance from the fabulous reed diffusers by “Cedar and Oak”.🌳
The Carlisle born business spearheaded by John Watt, really encompasses what fragrance should be all about, using high quality ingredients combined with essential oils to create the most beautiful long lasting scent. Cedar and Oak products really do arouse the senses and evoke special memories for me 🥰
Many years ago, prior to the shop and my 16 years in the motor trade I was an account manager for a very well known luxury fragrance brand.
And if you are a creator of fragrance then you really have to be exceptional in your field to be able to create and blend a new fragrance, So when I was introduced to Cedar and Oak products I just knew they were going to be a success. 👌
John really is one of the nicest people you could meet, a Carlisle boy born and bred, he is passionate, creative and perfectionist. His products are created and produced in Carlisle in small batches and are available to buy on the Cedar and Oak website or you could visit the store “Moon on the Hill “ in Penrith, it too is well worth a visit, a beautiful independent gift store full of “little pockets of happiness” 🥰

So last week, I went back to where I was born and lived a large part of my life at. Starting at Slaley Forest we walked over the old drovers road to Blanchland. Now we were hoping for a stop at the White Monk Tearooms ( highly recommended!) that are located in the Old Village School…..but they are closed on a Monday. 😢 So a very interesting amble around the Abbey admiring its fine architecture and beautiful kneeling cushions which would sell rather well in a gift shop I think . Then through the woods and a picnic at Baybridge . Rather a stiff walk back passing my great grandmother’s house that has been bought by the King of Dubai for his staff! and up over the moors to return to the car, 8 miles in total.
The grouse were out and they fly way faster than I remember 😆

So another “little pocket of happiness “ last Wednesday.
After a month spent closing the bricks and mortar shop and the physical and psychological strain, it was time for a much needed walk out in the sunshine to recharge the batteries at Kershope Forest.
Spring really is on its way and the wildlife is on overdrive. The copious amounts of frogspawn, buzzards and toads were all doing there thing. A picnic by the river and plenty of time to get things moving again.
And if you fancy a coffee with the biggest smiles for miles then why not visit the “Olive Tree Cafe” at Newcastleton, the girls there are little stars and greet you like old friends.
Life maybe a little different right now but in the background the wheels are moving. Trust me this girl doesn’t sit still for long!

So sad…..and we all know how difficult it is to close our doors and the effect it has on staff and customers alike 😢

So Yesterday I had a “little pocket of happiness” with my friend Shaun.
For those of you who don’t know, I worked in sales in the motor trade in the North East for 16 years and Shaun and I have been friends ever since.
We met up at the beautiful “Bradley Gardens”near Wylam, which is only a 50 minute drive from Brampton.
The restaurant is set in the greenhouses which was once part of Bradley Halls kitchen garden.
You must visit, the decor is fabulous, the food is excellent, plenty of free parking, and there is a selection of small shops too. Now I may miss my little piece of paradise at Lanercost but this really is a must visit. 🥰👌❤️

Well what can I say, other than an absolutely huge “thank you” to you all. For supporting us through this tough episode, for the well wishes, messages of support and lovely gifts. When times are tough it’s wonderful to read and hear how much this little shop meant to so many of you.
Going forward this page will continue! With some unusual items for sale, tips on some special places to visit and in time…..who knows another shop?
But for now keep following and enjoy our journey as it unfolds ♥️
