After six weeks of lockdown and the business being shut during that duration, we have decided to open the shop, there are new guidelines in place, we will be taking all the necessary precautions to make it as safe as possible, it may take some time to replenish all the stock we have lost while we were shut but should be stocked up in the next week or so, look forward to seeing all our regulars and new customers alike, stay safe people.

So this is the type of thing small businesses are having to put up with at the moment on Facebook and Marketplace. I have been called “selfish and greedy” as well as other things for advertising that our shop still has toilet rolls in stock. We have been visiting our local cash + carry early in the morning on a daily basis, as well as risking our health, in an attempt to get in stock for our customers as all we have been seeing and hearing from customers throughout the day is just how much of a struggle it is for people to find these items in the supermarket as shelves are being cleared on a daily basis. How am I “selfish or greedy” for selling something we would sell in the shop anyway at the same exact price, it is price marked at £2.50 and I listed it at £2.50. I do not understand what we are doing wrong. Many shops are hiking their prices up to crazy amounts and people are still shopping there as they see others do the same and panic buy, but we have not hiked any of our prices up. I tried to explain but it is like talking to a brick wall sometimes and they have left me another horrible message before leaving the chat. I am honestly so annoyed right now and upset at this, it has really pi**ed me off. This is seriously frustrating. Just because we are a small business people think they can say whatever they want to us, what these people need to understand is how much profit supermarkets make in comparison to shops like ours. The profit margins are rather low for small businesses, especially on these items. The major supermarkets buy in huge bulk quantities and are probably ecstatic about all the big sales they are making. We on the other hand are worried we will have to close the shop for months and have little no income to rely on so we are trying out best to get stock our customers have asked for instore. I honestly have no idea what I can even do. I try to help and receive this in response. 🤷🏽‍♀️😔

Just to let you all know out there that the Two Trees will not be inflating our prices, theres definitely a bargain to be had here or plenty marked price items, also good bargains with premium gin with free premium tonics depending on the gin, pm for details, keep safe folks.
