These monochrome animals start off as handmade items, with sketches and paper cut outs, which are then inked up and printed.

I always like to have some arty manual process in my work - just working digitally can be a bit limiting. A lot of the mark making shows through to the digital versions as well and gives them a much more natural textured looking finish.

This process in particular takes me back to being a child - it's a bit like the old potato printing that I loved doing with my mum. I might try and get my little one involved next time I make some!
