✨ WELCOME TO THE ARTRIUM, Mr B ✨

We’re delighted to welcome our newest creative, Bruce, a local maker with a wonderful passion for working with reclaimed and recycled materials.

Mr B has just delivered two truly beautiful handmade lamps — each one combining natural materials, thoughtful design and a strong appreciation for the environment.

🌿 Bamboo Lamp
36 × 20 cm

🌿 Paraná Pine Lamp

(Paraná pine is a Latin American timber.)

Both lamps feature opaque Plasticard, carefully incorporated to create a beautiful diffused light effect.

There is something particularly special about lighting made by hand. These pieces aren't simply functional — they become part of the character of a room, creating warmth, ambience and atmosphere as the evenings draw in.

And with the seasons beginning to change and the nights getting darker, now is the perfect time to introduce a little extra glow into your home. ✨

Today has been incredibly disheartening.😔

A number of us independent business owners came together to take part in a photo shoot and video with one simple aim: to encourage people to support local businesses and celebrate Bexhill.

We gave our time freely because we genuinely care about this town.
We love Bexhill, we believe in its future, and every day we work hard to keep our high street alive—not just for ourselves, but for our whole community.

What we didn't expect was the overwhelming negativity that followed.

Instead of discussing the message, many comments quickly turned to parking charges, empty shops and everything that is wrong with the town. While those issues are real, they are not ones that independent businesses have the power to solve. We are simply doing our best with the resources we have.

It is difficult to keep giving your time, energy and passion when every positive effort is met with criticism. It leaves many of us wondering, "What's the point?"🤷

The reality is that independent businesses are the ones opening their doors every morning, investing in Bexhill, creating welcoming spaces, supporting local artists, makers and charities, employing local people, and encouraging others to visit the town.
We are not asking for sympathy. We are simply asking for perspective.

If we want Bexhill to thrive, we need to start celebrating the people who are actively trying to make that happen, rather than discouraging them.🙏

Negativity doesn't revive a high street. Support does.

To everyone who continues to shop locally, recommends independent businesses and offers words of encouragement—thank you. You make more of a difference than you probably realise.

Let's build Bexhill up, not wear down the very people who are fighting to keep it alive.

Two images of me and my works on the Footbridge Gallery.

Some days remind us that life has a wonderful way of bringing people together.

At Bexhill Artrium, I often witness those lovely moments where people seem to be exactly where they're meant to be. Chance encounters, unexpected conversations, and stories that unfold right before our eyes—it really is one of the joys of the gallery.

Today was one of those days.

Margaret Hayles visited with her beautiful 2026 calendars, which we're delighted to now have available in the gallery for £10 each, with all proceeds going to charity.

Then came the unexpected twist...

A lovely couple wandered into the shop, picked up one of Margaret's calendars and, to everyone's amazement, discovered that they were featured in one of the photographs—completely unbeknownst to Margaret!
The best part? A friend of theirs in France had spotted them in the image and told them about it, prompting them to visit the gallery and buy a copy.

What are the chances?😂

It's these wonderful, serendipitous moments that make Bexhill Artrium so much more than a gallery. Every day brings new stories, new connections, and reminders that sometimes people really do end up exactly where they're meant to be.
