We’re delighted to introduce our new collection of handcrafted desk and stationery pieces, made exclusively for Cook & Butler in England using our signature marbled paper designs created by Payhembury Papers.

From keepsake boxes and notebooks to pen pots and waste paper bins, each piece brings a little everyday joy to desks, studies, and creative corners.

They also make thoughtful gifts. A keepsake box is a wonderful wedding present for storing cards, photographs, and mementoes from the day, while a notebook or pen pot makes a considered Father’s Day gift for those who still appreciate putting pen to paper.

You can explore the collection online and in store.

The ritual of breakfast. The first cup of tea. Toast still warm from the rack. Butter softening on the table. A quiet pause before the day properly begins.

Our stoneware collection was made for exactly these moments. Shaped by hand in the heart of Buckinghamshire by local potter James Moffat, each piece brings a sense of permanence and calm to the breakfast table. Coffee cups and mugs that feel reassuringly weighty in the hand. Butter dishes designed to be used every day, not kept for best.

The glaze, soft and speckled, takes its cue from quail eggshells, creating a gentle texture and subtle variation unique to every piece. The exterior is left unglazed, giving a natural finish that feels as good in the hand as it looks on the table.

Every item is finished with our Cook & Butler stamp of approval and made to be lived with - dishwasher and microwave safe for everyday ease.

A little change is taking shape… Our shop will soon be available as a pop-up for the year ahead.

We are not closing - we’re very much staying part of Berkhamsted - but our current shop will soon be available for someone new to take it on for a while.

If you, or someone you know may be interested, please share or get in touch.

It’s only May, and the garden already feels deep into midsummer. A week of intense sunshine has left everything gloriously overgrown - the greenhouse full of geraniums, herbs stretching wildly towards the sun, and all of us (including the dog) looking a little warm and bedraggled by mid-morning.

We’ve been chasing cooler moments where we can; sunrise walks, watering in the shade, and dangling tired feet in the pond once the shop shuts for the day.

The shop is open all week as usual - even if we do arrive each morning already looking slightly wilted.

Chelsea week, and the shop continues to be filled with scalloped edges.

They’ve been leaving almost as quickly as they arrive, armfuls of soft terracotta curves, lifted onto counters with plans for herbs, geraniums, kitchen tables and doorsteps.

There’s something about them, gentle, a little nostalgic, but still entirely at home now.

We’re sending them out daily, carefully wrapped and on their way to new gardens, windowsills, and corners that need a bit of life.

If you’ve been thinking about one, you can order online, we’re packing and shipping every day.

A door left open to the garden. Herbs brushed as you pass, tomato leaves sharp and green in the greenhouse, geranium leaves soft and sweet in the warmth of the sun.

The scents you know from our candles, now reimagined as diffusers for the home - made to live with, not just light.

Fresh, green, and quietly constant. The kitchen garden carried indoors, from morning light through to late at night.

Weekend Recipes. A book that feels like a quiet exhale at the end of the week - unhurried, generous, and beautifully simple.

Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Baking, Dinner and Pudding unfold like the day itself, with recipes that invite you to linger a little longer: sherbet-y lemon curd on warm toast, roast pepper and Parmesan crostini for a late lunch, spaghetti with oregano meatballs as evening settles, and a blackcurrant pavlova crowned with lemon and bay custard.

It’s cooking for when the pace softens. For hands in flour, doors open to the garden, and the table set without hurry. The whole weekend, held gently in one place.
