Every Saturday here at DG, we like to showcase one of the games played by our community. Demo games are free to join all day with no experience necessary, so pop along and get involved! Here are our game days this July:

4th July: Middle Earth SBG - The Muster of Belper
11th July: TCGs Open Day
18st July: Historical Wargaming
25th July: Magic: The Gathering + Board Games Evening

We also run Painting Club in-store each Saturday: we have paints, brushes and table space for you to come and use throughout the day.

Marc’s Friday painting update!

Some good progress on the painting front this week, although I have basically been working on the same stuff as last week so not particularly exciting.

I have managed to crack through quite a few of the crusader spearmen. Only 4 left!!!! I only took one photo as they are all basically the same. I will photograph the whole squad of 24 next week as these guys look better when they are all in a mass together.

As well as the spearmen I finished 4 more Star Wars rebel troopers and 2 more tomb king archers. This completes the batch of both these so I will be painting something new next week. I think I will make a start on the British Napoleonics. I have built the first 8 and TBH they don’t look as complicated as the French. I’ll let you know whether this is true next week!

Marc’s Friday painting update!

Having finished off a few projects last week it’s on to new things! By new things I actually mean more of stuff that I have already painted!

I bit the bullet and decided that I need to finish the last 24 15mm crusader spearmen. I managed to get 8 done this week but I only photographed 1 of them - they’re not very exciting and you’ve seen them before right?

I also started on some more Tomb Kings. In a stunning departure however these are archers rather than spearmen! I was getting fairly bored of painting shields so the lack of them on the archers is quite refreshing! I managed to finish 4 (out of 32) but only photographed 2.

Finally on to some more Rebel troopers for Star Wars Legion. Nothing much to say about these guys that I haven’t said before - but they’re great figures and paint up nicely

Next week will be more of the same - can you stand the excitement?

Marc’s Friday painting update!

Not a “normal” painting week this week. I feel like I finished a few projects that have been on the go for a while but then spent most of the week painting one big model!

Finished this week are the last of the French Napoleonics. Yay! I took a photo of all 48 based and ready to go. British next, but now I’m on to the second army it feels like I have turned the corner. Still might paint something else while I psych myself up for another 48 though!

I also finished the last of the tomb kings spearmen. A similarly chunky 40 models. I haven’t managed to get these based however so no pic.

Also finished are 2 more models to go with Tom Baker from last week. Might be showing my age a bit with K9? There’s also everyone’s favourite police call box! Having decided that there was no way I was going to freehand the signs I played around with printing something small enough to fit the model. I am pretty chuffed with the result! Expect to see these on the next 7TV day!

Finally the big model I alluded to is the bone dragon with sorcerer dude for the tomb kings. This has taken ages so it’s a good job it’s been a dodgy week weather-wise. Once I started it I found it really difficult to put down! It wasn’t easy to paint - it’s so large and spindly that there was nowhere to anchor my hand - so it was hard getting the level of brush control I wanted. Still it’s done now and I think looks suitably imposing!

Those of you who have counted might realise this is only 7 models - so strictly speaking below par 🤔. After all it still only counts as one right?
