Dr Kevin Hamill works at the University of Liverpool (UK), and will supervise this PhD project to train a new EB research specialist in the field of EB eye symptoms. 👁️

His project aims to find out more about the protein laminin-332 and its role in corneal health in junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB). It will also develop a way to quickly screen large numbers of drugs to identify effective potential therapies for eye symptoms in EB.

Exciting news for the EB community 🦋

DEBRA UK has partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity to help fund vital research into epidermolysis bullosa (EB) in children.

UK researchers can now apply for funding to drive forward new treatments, improved care, and better outcomes for young people living with EB - with grants of up to £350,000 available.

This is a powerful step towards accelerating progress and supporting the next generation of researchers dedicated to EB.

A huge thank you to the incredible Witney community for coming together to support DEBRA UK 💙

On Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May, Three Horseshoes Witney, Oxfordshire - owned by Mike Dove and Tommy Higgs - hosted a special fundraising weekend. This included a dinner and auction with Graeme Souness CBE and Matt Le Tissier, followed by a legends football tournament the next day.

Across both events, football icons, local heroes and thousands of supporters came together for an unforgettable weekend, raising funds for people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a painful and life-limiting skin condition.

Together, you’ve raised an incredible £35,034 so far to fund vital care, support, and research into treatments and a cure. Every donation is making a real difference.
