Announcement
New Year and a new chapter begins…
It’s been a tough decision to make, but I’ve decided not to renew the lease on the current shop unit on High Street in Barry, and as such will be closing Homemade Wales towards the end of January.
When you’re your own boss, nobody ever asks you ‘where do you see yourself in five years time’. But, there’s nothing like a milestone birthday, partnered with the end of a 5 year lease & the potential renewal of another 5 years to make one assess ‘what does my next chapter look like?’ After much soul searching I’ve come to the conclusion that my next chapter does not include Homemade Wales.
Owning a bricks and mortar business is very time consuming and restrictive, which eight years ago when I started this journey was not an issue, but now that my family is all grown up and living in different cities, I want the time & flexibility to not only visit them, but to also enjoy the freedom of an empty nest.
I’m incredibly blessed to be able to make the decision on my own terms, going out ‘on a high’ after a busy festive period. And for such will be eternally grateful to all my customers for their support over the past eight years. I will miss you all. I have been honoured to share the years with you, along with the makers who have been an integral part of my business, many of whom have become firm friends.
Finally, a word to my High Street fellow business owners, who are the hardest working bunch of people I have ever met. I thank you all for your support and camaraderie. High Street is such a special place, and I have no doubt that it will continue to go from strength to strength. I will be forever proud of my time amongst you.
We will be having a brief closing down sale, the details of which will follow shortly. But for now, I just want to say a huge thank you, it’s been amazing.
