Ever picked up a needle and gone... which one?! 🧵
I used to think a sewing machine needle was just a needle. Turns out, using the right one makes a massive difference to how your stitches look (and how much you want to throw your machine out the window, done that plenty of times).
I've put together a proper beginner's guide to sewing machine needles: the different types, what they're actually for, and what size to reach for depending on your fabric. No jargon, just the stuff I wish someone had explained to me when I started.
Link in bio to read the full guide! 👇
What are you working on at the moment? Tell me below and I'll help you pick the right needle for it. 😊

So slight disaster with the first vlog about what I’ve been making. Filmed it with a new camera with an external mic and when I uploaded it my computer no sound. Aaaaah, will try and refill it this afternoon if I get the chance.

Seam allowance is one of those little sewing details that makes such a difference to your sewing.

When I first started sewing, I didn't realise that not every pattern uses the same seam allowance - and it can really affect the fit and size of your finished piece.

A common seam allowance is 5/8" or 1.5 cm, but some patterns use 1/4" or 3/5" or something else. So before you start stitching, it's always worth checking the pattern instructions first.

It only takes a minute, but can save a lot of unpicking later on!

Do you always check the seam allowance before you sew, or is it something you've learnt the hard way?
