We were planning on opening this week with our new opening hours for January, but due to the weather we will see how this goes over the coming days and keep you updated.

For now, we are sharing our new opening hours for January, and as always you can shop online with us 7 days a week 😄

Sun - 11:00-4:00pm

And that’s a wrap on another wonderful year at Hidden Scotland shop. The shop is now closed and will reopen again in the new year, on Saturday 3rd January ✨✨ Our team is taking a very well deserved break 🤩

We are wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, and would like to thank all of our lovely loyal customers who come in time and time again, and to those who stopped by for the first time this year, and to those who shopped from afar online!

We are now down to the last couple of boxes of calendars and then we are sold out. If you’re thinking on ordering our beautiful A3 wall calendar, which has a stunning photograph of somewhere in Scotland for each month then pop in soon or order from our online shop. We ship worldwide 🌍 the shop at Milton of Crathes will be open right up until 3pm on Christmas Eve.

There is still time for UK deliveries in time for Christmas and certainly still time to secure this as a first footing gift. We already know lots of you will be doing this 🤩

🚗 Important Parking Information for This Weekend's Christmas Fling 🚗

With so many fantastic businesses and makers joining us, the Royal Deeside Railway Santa Specials running 🎅🚂 and our resident businesses ready to welcome you, we are expecting a busy and festive weekend ahead.

If our main car park is full when you arrive, please follow the signage to the overflow parking within the Milton of Crathes Events Field (which runs adjacent to the railway).

A few helpful reminders;

🚗 Please park considerately and think of others
🚗 Keep roadways and access routes clear
🚗 Do not park in the staff carpark behind Hidden Scotland

Parking is free and plentiful so please don't let this put you off visiting. We'd love to see you for what promises to be a fantastic festive weekend!

Our cosy cottage shop looking ever so festive 🤩 this photo was taken by the wonderful Hester when she came to visit us on our candlelight shopping evening thank you

We would also love you to know about the Milton of Crathes festive fling which is on this weekend. Our lovely neighbours at the and Culter Perenials have organised a weekend of makers and food stalls to shop.

The are also running their Santa train rides all weekend.

And an extra special guest will be here on Saturday between 11am-1.30pm offering carriage rides.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to our Christmas shopping by candlelight on Friday evening and to all those who have shopped with us over the weekend! You’ve kept us very busy 😄

The evening felt very special getting to chat with customers over a drink and some nibbles. The market by brought a really great atmosphere to the Milton of Crathes.

The festivities are in full swing and this Friday we are open late for an evening of Christmas shopping by candlelight.

We will have some lovely curated gift bundles, beautifully gift wrapped magazines and some exclusive deals in store.

There will be some fizz (with a non alcoholic option too) and some nibbles to enjoy while you look around.

As part of ‘Festive Fayre by candlelight’ taking place next weekend, we will be opening the shop later next Friday evening.

We would love for you to join us for an evening of Christmas gift shopping on Friday 5th December where for the first time we will be open until 8pm.

We will have some fizz and nibbles for our evening shoppers, and our friendly team will be on hand to help you find thoughtful gifts for your loved ones.

Our wonderful neighbours will also be open late that evening and Culter Perennials.

Slow Living Events have organised a ‘Festive Fayre by Candlelight’ where they have curated a makers market and are hosting a series of workshops taking place for the whole weekend from the evening of the 5th - 7th December. You will find them in the old sawmill and courtyard steading. For more details on what they have going on, head over to to keep up to date.

We are very excited to see the Milton of Crathes lit by candlelight and hope to see you there!

📢 Weekend Shop & Studio Assistant 📢

At the end of this month we will be saying goodbye to our lovely weekend team member Jess as he moves on to a new chapter in Edinburgh. This means we are now looking for a new friendly face to join our team.

This position requires someone to open and close the shop, and will be on their own during shifts. So we are looking for someone who is comfortable working alone.

As we are a small business we have a strong team established, and together we all get involved in tasks that are required (for example we often have events down at Milton of Crathes - where it could be an all hands on deck scenario to get tasks completed) We are very much looking for a team player who is happy to get involved where required.

12 Hours
Saturday 10:15am - 4:45pm
Sunday 10:45am - 4:15pm

Main Roles & Duties

* Shopkeeping
* Adding any new stock to the till system
* Merchandising
* Learn about our products and the makers behind them to talk confidently to customers about them
* Keeping the shop clean and tidy at either end of shift and throughout shift
* Picking and packing online orders
* General day to day running of the shop tasks

Personal Profile

* Has a keen interest in the local area or enthusiastic and eager to learn
* Has a keen interest further afield in Scotland, or enthusiastic and eager to learn
* A passion for discovering small businesses and makers across Scotland
* Confident and outgoing, happy to chat with customers and help assist them
* Willing to help out customers who have questions about the area & products
* Can work on own initiative
* Eager to develop and grow along with the business
