Very exciting news here at Banchory Library 💛

Three members of staff from Aberdeenshire Libraries have been recognised in the Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Hero Award 2026, highlighting their work supporting children and families through early years learning.

Our very own Bookbug Session leader, Kelly, received a Highly Commended award as part of this year’s Bookbug Week (18–24 May), organised by the Scottish Book Trust.

Kelly has been recognised for her work supporting families across the Banchory area, including delivering inclusive Bookbug sessions and engaging with children with additional support needs. She has also worked closely with local schools and community groups to promote early years reading.

All shortlisted candidates will receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement. As part of her Highly Commended award, Kelly will also receive £50 of books from Walker Books.

Well done Kelly and the Banchory Library Team! ⭐

🍞 🌽 Farmers market / today / Milton Of Crathes 🙌🏻

June’s Milton of Crathes Farmers Market takes place on Sunday from 10am in the courtyard.

We have some fantastic local businesses and producers lined up for you all to discover. 🍎🥕🥖🧁🍪🍤

Our fabulous businesses will also be open on Sunday so why not make a day of it. Tables are still available at Milton Brasserie for their fabulous Sunday Lunch, the TwinPeakes team will be on hand for all our fishing and outdoor needs (perfect for Fathers Day next weekend!) and Milton Art Gallery 's latest exhibition continues along with unique sculpture, gifts and jewellery.

We are also delighted to welcome Maison Castanie to Milton of Crathes for their first weekend in business. Be sure to pop in to experience this brand new deli and lifestyle brand which combines French and Scottish culture 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇫🇷

Join us at the Barn for our fundraising Plant Sale! 🌱

Saturday 6 June @ 10am - 12pm

With Spring in full swing and Summer around the corner, now is perfect time to get some new plants for your green spaces. Browse through a selection of cuttings, seedlings and full on blooms all grown here by local folk.

All the proceeds from sales will contribute to fundraising efforts for the Barn so we can continue our ecological and creative work.
