🌿 SKIN SCHOOL WITH DEE — Your Skin Is a Map of Your Body
This week's Skin School is a little more personal.
I've always been fascinated by skincare and the biology behind our skin, but recently I've had a very real reminder that sometimes a change in our skin isn't actually about skincare at all.
Over the last few months I'd noticed changes in my own skin. It looked paler and duller, felt different and, if I'm completely honest, part of me simply thought “Well... I'm getting older!” 😂
But after discovering I was anaemic and beginning treatment, I started noticing changes again — this time for the better.
And it really made me think...
🌿 Our skin can sometimes give us clues about what's happening elsewhere in our body.
Iron and other nutritional deficiencies, thyroid problems, hormonal changes, stress, sleep and our general health can all influence how our skin looks and feels.
That doesn't mean every dry patch or breakout means something is wrong! Skin changes for all sorts of perfectly ordinary reasons.
But if something suddenly changes, persists, or just doesn't feel normal for you, perhaps the answer isn't always another serum, moisturiser or cleanser.
Sometimes it's worth asking:
“Why has my skin changed?”
And sometimes my skincare recommendation isn't a Zilfarni product at all. ❤️
It's to listen to your body and speak to your GP or another healthcare professional if something doesn't seem right.
Skincare can support your barrier, hydration and comfort — but it can't correct an underlying medical condition or deficiency.
Your skin is your body's largest organ.
Listen to it. Understand it. Support it. 🌿
