First race for the Sparko F8E and the setup I bolted on was close, but not quite right for the grip levels at BADMCC.

The car was immediately fast, but it was too soft. It rolled too much, had sporadic grip roll and was difficult to place consistently.

The aim for the day wasn't to chase a magic setup, but to understand how the car responded to changes.

Widening the hinge pin spacing, stiffening the geometry, adding the wishbone stiffeners, heavier shock oil and different springs all helped calm the car down and improve consistency.

What impressed me most was how well the Sparko responded. Every change moved us in the right direction and the car became easier and easier to drive throughout the day.

The RaceSpec Apex SS tyres were superb and gave a really consistent platform to work from.

There are still plenty of areas left to explore. More shock oil/piston combos , heavier diffs, droop and further geometry work are all on the list.

For a first day, I'm really pleased with the progress.

🏁 1/8 National Week 🏁

With the Irish Nitro Nationals heading to RCNI this weekend, we're getting stock ready and making sure racers have everything they need for race day.

First race for the Sparko F8E this weekend at BADMCC and we learned a lot...

The initial setup I bolted on was too soft, but after making changes throughout the day the car really started to transform.

By the end of the day we managed to sneak in a TQ and Win 🏁

The RaceSpec Apex SS tyres worked really well throughout the day and gave us a great platform to build from.

There's still plenty more to learn and definitely more speed to come from the car.

We'll share more setup notes and lessons from the first race later this week.

The McBurney Racing Shop Race Project continues…🏁

Build complete. Now it's time to find out what the Sparko F8E can do.

No shakedown. No gentle first outing. Straight into racing this Sunday at BADMCC.

First race. First laps. First lessons.

As always, we'll be chasing a car that's easy to drive and making setup changes throughout the day to go as fast as possible.

BADMCC is a fast and demanding multi-surface track, so it should be a great challenge and a good place to start learning what works and what doesn't.

Looking forward to getting it on track and seeing what we can learn.

🏁 Paddy Piston 2026 👊

Another fantastic weekend of racing, laughs and plenty of fun at the Paddy Piston.

From close racing and huge jumps to caravan races, shot races, concours and of course backflips, there was something for everyone and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the weekend.

A huge well done and thank you to the BADMCC team and all the volunteers for organising another great event. These meetings don't happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes and it was great to see so many racers enjoying themselves.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thanks to everyone who helped make it another memorable weekend.

Already looking forward to the next one! 🏁

🏆 Another winning weekend for RaceSpec.

After securing TQ, RaceSpec Apex SS and Pulse S helped deliver the overall EBuggy win at the Paddy Piston event.

Designed, tested and developed through real racing, both patterns provided the grip, consistency and durability needed to perform throughout the weekend.

🏆 TQ + WIN at Paddy Piston 🏆

A great weekend of racing at the 2026 BADMCC Paddy Piston with McBurney Racing taking the EBuggy win after securing TQ in qualifying.

RaceSpec tyres delivered excellent grip, consistency and wear throughout the event, helping convert pole position into the overall win.

Dylan also put in a strong performance in Nitro Buggy, finishing 4th in the demanding 1-hour final after battling through a highly competitive field.

It's always great when the hard work comes together, with strong performances from the SWorkz buggies, Highest servos, Sunpadow batteries, LRP electronics and REDS engine package all weekend.

Thanks to BADMCC for another fantastic Paddy Piston event and congratulations to all the racers and winners. Looking forward to the next one. 👊

Not sure what tyres to run? 🤔

One of the biggest setup decisions you'll make all weekend — it's your tyres.

For our RaceSpec range, we generally think about it like this:

🔹 Pulse SS
Dusty tracks, loose conditions and mixed grip surfaces.

🔹 Apex SS
Higher grip tracks where you're looking for maximum corner speed and consistency.

Of course, every track is different, and conditions can change throughout the day, but having the right tyre underneath you can be worth more than most setup changes.
