🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Deeside Books & Gifts Ballater Tartan🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yesterday I announced our new and exclusive Ballater Tartan. The colours chosen were deliberate, each one reflects something meaningful about Ballater and its surroundings. From the natural landscape, to the heritage and character of the village. The colours were considered from how they would work together visually and also what they represent.

🦌HAWTHORN FLY: to signify the Royal Bridge and the beautiful Churches and buildings in the village.

🌳SPRUCE GREEN: to signify the Craigendarroch Hill and the scenery we have around Ballater.

🍯OLD GOLD: to signify the warm community that makes Ballater what it is today.

🪻MAUVE: to signify the heather on the hills surrounding us and a tribute to our Scottish national symbol, the Thistle.

🌿ELLAN SAGE: to signify the historical, Old Royal Station which stands at the heart of the village.

💙BONNET BLUE: to signify the River Dee that runs alongside our lovely Ballater.

I will be sharing more as things develop but for now thank you for being so supportive & for all the lovely messages regarding our new Tartan. It’s a very exciting time. 💚

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙 SOMETHING EXCITING IS COMING SOON…

I’m very proud to finally share something that I have been working on behind the scenes along with the amazing Lochcarron of Scotland to design our very own, Deeside Books and Gifts, Ballater Tartan.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Registered with The Scottish Register of Tartans.

Every colour and shade has been chosen with care to reflect everything we love about Ballater, the place we all call home; the hills, the river, the village, the iconic buildings and the people who come together to create an amazing community.

My hope is that this Tartan can travel far beyond our village, worn by visitors all over the world, as a little piece of Ballater to take home with them. A reminder of a special trip, a favourite place or a moment in time that stayed with them. But just as much, I hope that the people who call Ballater their home, will love it too.

But this Ballater Tartan is deeply meaningful to me too… 💙

As you all know, the founder of Deeside Books & Gifts, my Papa Bryn, passed away in 2024. I was thinking fondly one day about conversations I would have with him about life and our shop, and it inspired me to do something different and creating a Tartan in his honour just felt right. He was so proud of me and that is something that has stayed with me and quietly gave me confidence, even on the hardest days. I know without a doubt he would be so proud of this, and that means more than I can properly put into words.

Bryn’s legacy will always be woven into something lasting and inspired by Ballater, a village he was so proud to be apart of. I’ve poured my heart into getting it just right, and I couldn’t be more happy with the outcome.

I am very excited to share this with you all and I hope you all love it just as much as I do. 💚
