Big shoutout to South Yorkshire Police and Martin Fell this past week 👏 The Ultimat Defence team was invited along to a SPEAR System®(Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated Response) training course, and it's been a really eye-opening few days.

SPEAR System® is the personal safety system developed by self-defence legend Tony Blauer & the S.P.E.A.R. System , used by police forces and military around the world. It teaches officers how to take that instant "flinch" reaction we all have and turn it into a controlled, protective response when things escalate.

To make the training as realistic as possible (without anyone getting hurt!), instructors and students train against each other both wearing Tony Blauer's High Gear padded suits that allow realistic strikes to take place safely.

Training like this is so important. It gives officers on the frontline the confidence and skills to handle dangerous situations, which means safer outcomes for them and for all of us. Proud to be part of it đź’™

The team has been on the move this past week. 9 Scenario Training Cars delivered 8 different locations across London.

These aren’t just vehicles. They are controlled Scenario Training environments where officers can train for the moments that actually matter.

With a Scenario Training Car, teams can:
→ Recreate real-world incidents in a safe, repeatable setting
→ Build decision-making under pressure, not just theory
→ Train communication, control, and coordination inside a confined space

Two weeks since Security & Policing… and what an experience it was.

From the moment the doors opened, the energy didn’t stop.

We had the opportunity to meet so many incredible people across the policing and security space all focused on one thing:

It’s always fantastic to see the next generation of officers progressing through their training and developing the wide range of skills required for modern operational environments.

Personal Safety Training is a vital part of building confidence, competence, and safety awareness. The ability to manage conflict, apply defensive techniques, and make safe, effective decisions under pressure forms a core foundation for frontline roles. Training environments that allow recruits to practise these skills safely, repeatedly, and realistically are essential in preparing them for real-world scenarios.

Equally important are the communication and investigative skills being developed through witness interview training. Building rapport, gathering reliable information, and supporting individuals during difficult or stressful situations are key elements of professional policing and public trust.

At Ultimat Defence, we understand how important it is that training reflects operational reality while prioritising safety and longevity. Seeing recruits progress through structured, immersive training programmes highlights the ongoing commitment across the sector to developing capable, confident, and well-prepared personnel.
