I have always loved arts and crafts! As a little girl, I loved to draw and as I got older I tried to have at least one creative and crafty project a year around my day job (such as painting pumpkins, découpaging advent calendars, making Christmas stockings and many more!). Whilst heavily pregnant and nesting during lockdown, I turned to craft to keep me relaxed and to come up with something specia

l and unique for my little one's nursery. I decided to try my hand at punch needle embroidery and bought a kit and away I went. Before long, I was hooked and even after Leo's arrival, I found myself sketching out designs and making more hoops during nap times. Not content with confining myself to creating characters for his safari-themed nursery, I carried on creating more designs and started making hoops for friends and family and then decided to set up Flossie & Bean. You may be wondering where the name Flossie & Bean comes from, well... "Flossie" is my husband's nickname for me and from the moment we saw Leo on our first scan, we have called him "our little bean"! I hope that my creations bring a little bit of joy to those who receive them. Thank you for reading!

I know I’m late to this one… but why not?! 🤭

It’s definitely not always been the easiest or most straightforward path, but I’m really proud of what I’ve built, the people I’ve met along the way and the opportunities it’s brought me so far.

Mostly, I love that I get to spend my days making things I love, sharing that love of craft with others and showing my boys that you can create a career doing something you genuinely enjoy. 🫶

I’ve got big plans for Flossie & Bean and I’d love you to follow along for my journey.

Starting school is such a big milestone, so here are a few little things that helped us get ready for the big day 🎒

📚 Read a starting school book – a lovely way to introduce the idea of school and talk about what they might expect.

👕 Try the uniform on beforehand – let them get used to how it feels, especially if they’re not used to wearing smarter clothes! If you want that all-important starting school photo, take it a little early to save yourself the stress of trying to get the perfect picture on the first morning 📸

👞Wear the school shoes in – because uncomfortable shoes are definitely not what anyone needs on day one.

⏰ Start the school morning routine early – we’ve introduced a no-TV rule until everyone has had breakfast and is dressed (it saves me shouting “get dressed” approximately 1,000 times 😅)

😀 Keep it positive – talk about all the exciting things they’re going to do, the friends they’ll make and the adventures ahead… even if you’re secretly wondering how they’ve got this big so quickly 🥹

It’s a big change for them (and us!) but a little preparation can hopefully make those first few days feel that bit easier ❤️

Save this for those last few weeks before the big day 🎒

Their first day of school is one of those special firsts you’ll want to remember. 🎒

Such a big milestone for your little one (and you!) and a moment that feels like the end of one chapter and the start of another.

If you’d like to mark the occasion, my first day of school keepsake hoops are available on my website, with a pencil, red apple or green apple design and your own personalised wording. ✏️🍎

Have you got a little one starting school this year? How are you feeling about it?

Hi, I’m Katie and I love teaching people how to punch needle 🧶✨

I’ve had a little break from workshops (and socials!) whilst I celebrated my birthday, but I’m back!

There are just a handful of spaces left on my remaining Summer workshops and I’ve also just released the first set of Autumn dates on my website 🍁🎃🍄

These were really popular last year, so if you’d like to join us, I’d recommend booking early. I have to keep numbers capped as I finish every keyring/decoration myself at the end of each workshop and I hate having to turn people away!

Come and have a go, learn something new and spend a couple of lovely hours crafting with me 🥰

Dates & booking via the link in my bio (I’ll add to my stories too).
