Today's Trash Stomp saw way way waaaaaay too many glass bottles discarded in long tinder dry grass. Any one of these finds could of started a fire with the sun blazing down on them.

A rather hot stomp around the Briar Field green and multisports area.
Unfortunately there was quite a few glass bottles dotted around the field. As you know, the field is dry as a bone and expected high temperatures to come again. Glass bottles pose a risk of fire when coupled with dry grasses areas so if littering wasn't bad enough, this is extra dumb! This area is used by dog walkers, children and sports teams for both the pitch and multisports area and broken glass can cause serious harm.
So please, be considerate. Use the bins provided, there is one are both field exits.......or extra eco points if you take your rubbish home and recycle!

Glass + Dry Grass + Summer = FIRE 🔥

If littering wasn't bad enough, there seems to be a lot of glass bottles and smashed glass amongst very dry vegetation, particularly around parks and green spaces. This is a recipe for disaster.
The suns rays through the magnifying glass of the bottle can cause the dry grass, leaves and twigs to burn and devastating fires can take over in a very short timeframe.
Not only can these fires devastate wildlife, harm communities but can put a great strain on our emergency services.

So what can you do to prevent ......
🌏Take Your Litter Home. Extra points for recycling!

🌏Use The Bins Provided. If you're in an area where there is no bin immediately close to you, keep hold of your rubbish until you reach one.

🌏Pick It Up. If you happen to come by a stray bottle, pick it up and pop it in the bin (been cautious of broken glass-you can report to Bitter About Litter with a location)
