🌼 PETAL PICK: Gerbera

Big, bright and full of personality – this week’s Petal Pick is the gorgeous gerbera 🌸

A few things you might not know about these colourful blooms…

🌿 Gerberas are part of the daisy family and originate from South Africa, Asia and South America.

🌈 They come in an incredible range of colours – from soft pastels to vivid pinks, oranges, reds and yellows.

🌼 What looks like one big flower is actually made up of lots of tiny individual flowers clustered together in the centre.

💛 Gerberas are traditionally associated with happiness, cheerfulness and joy – which seems pretty fitting for such a happy-looking bloom!

💧 As cut flowers, they prefer fresh, shallow water and a lovely clean vase, as their stems can be particularly sensitive to bacteria.

You can spot gerberas in the shop at the moment too – we have gerbera plants, as well as some of their tiny cut-flower cousins making an appearance in our bouquets 💐

Good morning Petals 🌸 This summer sunshine is lovely for us… but your flowers might disagree!

A few simple ways to help your blooms last longer in warmer weather:

🌸 Keep them somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight
💧 Check their water regularly – they’ll drink more when it’s warm
✂️ Give the stems a fresh trim when you change the water
🍃 Remove any leaves sitting below the waterline
🫧 Keep that vase nice and clean

A little extra TLC can make all the difference 💐

🌿 It's not easy being green...💚
..especially when you're this adorable!

Meet 'Mind Your Own Business' (*Soleirolia soleirolii*) – the tiny plant with the cheekiest name and the cutest little leaves. It might look a bit like cress at first glance, but this lush little beauty is perfect for adding a fresh pop of green to your home.

✨ Available in rich green and vibrant lime.
💧 Loves to stay cool and lightly damp (water from the bottom is best!).
🪴 Perfect for bathrooms, shady windowsills or any bright spot out of direct sunshine.

Fun fact... if you visit the famous waterfall at Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, you'll spot it growing in beautiful carpets of green!
