Something is shifting at Fillup


After a lot of thought (and a fair bit of behind-the-scenes plotting), we’ll be closing temporarily for a refurbishment.

The high street is an ever-changing place, and if we want to keep doing what we love, we have to evolve with it. This next chapter is all about creating a better experience for you — more inviting, more engaging, and even more connected to our community.

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or have yet to step through the door, what’s coming is designed with you in mind.

We’re keeping the full story quietly under wraps for now
 but trust us, there’s something exciting brewing at 15 High Street 👀

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something important.

We absolutely love being a part of this community, but like many small businesses, FillUp needs your help to keep going!

With our shop lease due for renewal this November (as we will be hitting our 5th Birthday!) it’s a bit of a pivotal time thinking about what lies ahead for us. There is no sugar coating it. Being an Independent shop on the High Street is tough! And this April it is due to become even harder. The reality is our shop footfall isn’t where it needs to be if we are going to weather the storm.

Rest assured we will be doing everything we can! We have evolved massively from where we began and we will continue to do so for as long as we can. đŸ’ȘđŸ»

If you enjoy our shop, even adding one extra refill item to your weekly shopping or stopping by a little more often can make a huge difference. Perhaps you haven’t been in for a while, we would love to see you again! Every customer counts.

If you don’t live close enough to come in to the shop but have been following our journey online, every like, share, follow and comment also plays a huge part in our success.

We are so thankful for all of your support on our journey so far and really would love to be here for another 5 years!

We haven’t shouted about this yet but last year we were in the Top 10 stockists in the country of products!

This means you, our top refilling customers DIDN’T buy thousands of single use bottles, opting to refill what you already have instead. ♻

It may seem futile at times but by making this choice we can safely say we are doing our bit and helping the fight against single use plastics polluting our water systems, ending up in our oceans and generally being pointlessly invasive to our planet’s ecosystems AND refusing the cheap nasty chemicals, found in mainstream brands all doing the same.

Hello to all our followers old and new! đŸ™‹đŸŒâ€â™€ïž

What is FillUp?

FillUp is Alton’s independent local refill shop where you can find an abundance of everyday household items.

How does it work?

Bring containers, re-using what you have is best, no need to kit your cupboards out with beautiful jars and bottles. Alternatively use our paper bags and donated bottles.

What can you refill?

Store cupboard staples; think pasta, cereal, eggs, flour, coffee and tea, herbs and spices, sweet and savoury snacks etc.

Cleaning products; washing up liquid, laundry liquid, cleaning sprays, rinse aid, toilet cleaner.. let’s just say we’ve got most bases covered here!

Bathroom products; shampoo, conditioner, Bodywash, moisturises, toothpaste
 the list goes on.

Is it more expensive?

Not at all! We keep our prices in line with the supermarkets and what’s more, by only taking the quantity you need, quite often you will be paying a lot less đŸ‘đŸ».

Christmas cake kits are in!

If you’ve ever fancied baking a Christmas cake now’s the time to do it! And it couldn’t be simpler. đŸ‘©â€đŸłđŸ‘šâ€đŸł

All the ingredients weighed out with just a few extras needed and straight forward instructions to follow.

It makes a super delicious cake whether you make in advance to feed with a tipple of choice, or bake to eat as it is.

And what’s more you’re not left with ingredients that you won’t use up. đŸ‘đŸ»

We often chat recycling with customers, and the main question is what can and can’t be recycled in our local area?.. Recycling is a minefield there are no two ways about it.

So here is a handy link on the Hampshire county website. You can search on the item you are wondering about and it will provide all the info you need.

Wonderful to see that the council will even direct you to us. đŸ™ŒđŸŒ

For example, plastic pots like those for your yogurt can’t be recycled and will end up in your general waste bin. But fear not! This doesn’t mean no tasty yoghurt. We have delicious yoghurt from available in return and reuse glass jars. Creamy, delicious yoghurt from a local dairy too! 😋.
