DIARY OF A 40FT SHIPPING CONTAINER
Ever wondered how we get all those containers of wonder, packed to the brim with our unique hand-made products, delivered to our UK warehouse from our different suppliers all over Indonesia?
Well the whole process actually takes around 6 weeks from start to finish - grab yourself a cuppa and we’ll fill you in …..
As soon as the hero of this story - an empty 40ft shipping container - has been delivered to our main warehouse facility in Bali, all the gorgeous goodies Dan has been buying start arriving from our scattered suppliers. As you would expect from small family businesses, this part of the delivery process is pretty low-tech! At the warehouse, all these goodies are wrapped and packed with biodegradable or recyclable protective material, ready for loading onto the shipping container.
When all the wrapping has been finished, there’s just time for a quick breather on one of our fabulous new Twin Trunk benches before beginning the huge job of loading up the container.
Fitting everything into the container in the most space-efficient way is a bit like playing the biggest game of Tetris you’ve ever seen! It takes an awful lot of skilful planning and hard work. Empty container space is money going to waste, so thankfully our colleagues in Indonesia are experts at making the best use of the available square footage. You definitely wouldn’t want to take them on in a jigsaw puzzle competition!
Once the container is packed to the brim with lovely Makasi goodies, it then takes a voyage over land and sea before arriving here in the UK and driving round the M25 to our warehouse in Surrey all ready to be unpacked, unwrapped and tucked up on our warehouse shelves by our fantastic UK crew!
So, wonder no more - now you know!
